I tend to agree. The defense has been outstanding overall, but we haven't faced a QB the likes of Brady, Brees, or Rodgers this season. Come playoff time (no jinx), we might have to deal with a QB like that. Thoughts? Think our D can contain elite QBs like those guys?
Pot meet Kettle...
Beat me too it.
This is the guy who won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer.
He addressed this point in his comments. He admitted that the Ravens could win with defense and Dilfer because there was a talent vacuum at QB across the league at that time. That's not the case right now. There are more HOF caliber QB's at the top of their games right now than any point I can recall.
On top of that, the passing game in this league is way out of control. You will not win a SB anymore if your QB can't move the ball consistently.

Defenses are going to start stacking 7-8men in the box and we are going to be stuck, We need to truly start opening up the firld and taking advantage of our plethora of weapons for an ariel attack. This is what the 49ers are known ande built for. High flying air attack with high scoring games in the 40's and 50's. No teams coming back on us because we put the game away..Plus we are waisting vast talent in Vernon Davis(Mr. All-World).
Let 'em stack the box. Balance is what Harbaugh is aiming for, our balance and the opposing team's imbalance. That's why Harbaugh signed on for the WCO, that's why he is moving Delaney Walker all over the place, that's why VD has been invisible. Let 'em stack the box and it will be shock and awe. I think Detroit knew this and thought better than to try it.
No worries my friend.
Last year, I recall a piss-poorly coached 49ers team going into halftime down only 13-14 to Green Bay in Wisconsin in December.
With Braylon, Harbaugh and a vaunted defense in 2011, I say bring it.

Green Bay is beatable, but can't use last year, cause last year is gone and a different team, this year they are better than last year.

2000 Season was like Gannon just hitting his prime and they seemed to have dispatched of those raiders handily.
I can kind of understand what hes saying, but I don't quite agree with it. I mean hell, roethlisberger has 2 rings and 3 appearances. Does that make him a better QB than manning?
I think my point is what really matters is how you play all three phases of the game. Our defense is lights out, special teams is lights out, and our offense is playing pretty well. Like Harbaugh says, if this team can get a little better every day, come time for playoffs we will beat any team in the league.
As it stands now, I'm pretty confident that we can beat New England, New Orleans, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. I'd say we can really compete with Green Bay.

That Baltimore defense was the best single season defense of all time.
Good luck trying to recreate what they did that year, hell Baltimore's had the same style of team for the past decade and hasn't sniffed the Super Bowl. Top 6 defense almost every year going home early every single year too.
Pittsburgh, Tampa, New York you can win with defense over offense, that's pretty obvious but I do think he's got a point as well. Hell his lack of ability to create a passing attack is ulimately what got him fired.

can, but doesnt mean we will. everyone would have to play PERFECTLY and that just doesn't happen often. Elite teams never show up without their A'game. now come playoff time, i believe harbaugh can mold this team into a team who can beat anyone, whether we are in the playoffs or not.

I think if we give Aldon his time the pass rush will automatically give our pass defense a dramatic boost. I agree with Billick that we're going to need Alex to make plays himself like he did against the Lions at least once in a while we can't get too dependent on Gore and Hunter. If we were to face the Pats I'd be confident against them because they aren't anything special on defense so that could be an advantage against them. The packers have a better defense plus a good offense so they would be a huge challenge. As long as our pass rush develops and Alex takes a bigger role I think we'll be fine.

If that was New England's A game this last sunday against the cowgirls... I say bring it...
Pittsburgh seems to me to be pretty one dimensional right now and totally beatable. Still you never want to disregard any team in the NFL ever, but they are not as scary as past Steeler's teams.
Brees makes mistakes when pressured. Defense is not scary. Sproles running returns tho, that could be scary.
Baltimore is gonna be a fun game to watch on Turkey day, 9ers/Ravens are so similar. Watching that game is gonna be like watching old Steelers/Ravens games. Real physical.
I just think that after the last three games, 9ers have made a statement; You better bring your lunch, because you're in for 3 excruciating hours of tough football.

the Niners are scoring 27.8 points a game----pretty darn good.
