Was the Lions game Anthony Davis' Best performance?

Yes! You could see the improvement. I don't know if it is because Snyder is playing next to him & not Chilo. But, Davis played much better than before.
I forget what analyst is was the said the Niners Line is gonna struggle at the beginning of the year but as the year went on he thought they would become one of the best OLs in the NFL. They arent there yet but all these dudes are improving game by game.

I see a mean streak developing with this kid....he obviously needs to stop getting FS penalities but I like his agression after the whistle...i just hope he doesn't over do it druing crucial parts of the game....

LOL, i just read my post again. I really wrote I dont forget
A lot of folks get carried away early on, and I am sure you remember the AD is a bust posts. I said then and say now, give him time, and also, he just needed to get away from Chilo, who as it turns out, made Snyder also look bad. AD had lots to learn but seemed to improve weekly, altho when he got paired with chilo, nothing good happened. There is an example of what would not have been fixed in last 9 yrs...realizing the problem and getting chilo on the pine, off the line. AD can be something special, and now all that bit**ing and moaning about taking two OLs in the first rd, has basically just died down and gone away. We got two stellar picks, first time in 20 some yrs one team took two OLs in first rd. Give Baalke his due, the guy can spot talent. Before the Lions, alex had not been sacked in two games. I think many figured him to get pummeled in this game, but except for a bad call on first play of game, a one stepper with a deep route (coaching error, and the only one), alex was protected well. The second sack he really should have thrown it away. Compare this performance to any of last 6 yrs, and it seems impossible this is the same team.

As for the false starts, the joint was loud, Chicago had 9 false starts there last week, so we should have been ready for it. After that first play, the hand signals, or whatever they were using worked better, but we still had a bunch of FSs.(Miller had two back to back, ouch). I guess the thing most folks need to remember is that this is the pros, and expecting a guy just thru his teenage yrs to come in and start on the OL and not look bewildered, is asking a lot. Anybody who can take on the Suh/vanderbosch DL and walk away, knowing they kicked Detroit's azz, has really made the transition to big time pro tackle. Good news? I really think AD is just getting started. He has the look and temprament of a guy destined to be all pro. Just be patient.

did u guys see the play at the goal line when they tried to rush it in him and suh were goin at it he pushed suh down to the floor 5 seconds after the play was whistled dead haha

Suh didn't even bother to play he run (gore ran right by him) he just ripped Davis helmet off. I was pumped when AD threw him down

Hell Yeah that got me going, Davis was fired up all game, if he keeps playing with that passion he is going to be a hell of an Offensive Lineman, tat type of play disrupts the other teams Psyche

Sorry, you're right, just 1 FS penalty. Here's a good review of his performance too, he did very well (unfortunately underscored by his post-game antics).

76-Anthony Davis: Started at right tackle, and had an exceptional game. He was called for a false start at beginning of second possession. . . . Got block on linebacker Bobby Carpenter that allowed Gore to get into secondary on 47-yard run in first quarter. . . . Blocked Suh on Gore's 1-yard TD run at beginning of second quarter. . . . Outstanding protection against Avril on the fourth-down TD to ride him out of the way, creating a nice throwing lane for Smith on the slant.

Overall, it was a very good game from Anthony Davis and that block on Suh to open the lane for Gore was perfect and the way he subsequently drubbed Suh for removing his helmet was an exclamation. It was an emphatic statement that the vaunted Lions' defensive line would be encountering a powerful and fearsome offensive unit.
I think the main thing to take away from the Detroit game (and this thread... ) is the entire OL is improving.

When one thinks about it, with the lockout, the short period of preparation for the season, and the pretty complex offensive system that needed to be installed, it was totally understandable to see Davis and the line in general struggle from the outset. Now that they are getting the system down and getting more specific coaching as far as technique is concerned, we are seeing the true talent of the individuals finally come through.

What has been very frustrating to me in the last several years is seeing guys with talent that hasn't been fully developed because of poor coaching. That, thankfully, is finally beginning to change.

Cheers!
He did ok. False starts are his nemis

Like their (right) tackle, I don't even know his name, he's talking about blocking everybody," Cunningham said. "Well, I looked at the tape. I might make a highlight tape and put it on Twitter so everyone can see what he did. It just really -- the more I talk about this, the madder I get because, I just want to play them again."

Cunningham is crying like Schwartz. Before the Lions game I had a lot of respect for Gunther and his experience through the years, akin to Fangio. I thought he would come up with something on defense that would give Alex Smith trouble, mixed up the coverage and so forth. It never happened. The dude has lost his touch. He got one of the most talented defensive line playing for him , but he pretty much got owned by Harbaugh and Roman with our running game. And he never really made adjustments enough to get his guys help. He should be let go at the end of the year.

It would have been a pretty good game in a favorable environment. Considering that it was in Detroit against a talented group makes it very impressive and very encouraging. If he keeps improving this year and then he gets the benefit of a full offseason program under team guidance (which he didn't have after his rookie year)he stands a good chance to pan out and play up to his draft status. In a perfect world he reaches his ceiling and he takes Staley's job.

Im wit u up until the part about him taking staley's job. Joe has been playing pretty well. Not pro-bowl caliber, but he's the glue for that unit right now. I say let them continue to develop as a unit. Stability can be a very good thing.

A Lion fan was talking about a play where Anthony Davis laid on top of a Lions player along with Snyder and then proceeded to punch the Lions player 4 or 5 times in the side. Anyone remember this? I sure as hell don't.

On the final drive, Smith and McDonald sacked Stafford and Smith laid on top of him to keep Stafford down. In order to not make it look too blatant, he started slapping McDonald to make it look like he was celebrating.
I don't know if this was his best performance ever but he was playing like a mad man. (in a good way)
