This article was dead on, esp the last slide pointing to the lack of using non-marquee players. I would also add not using Gore/Miller more in the passing attack and the failure to utilize LMJ in the return game; specifically kickoffs (punt returns appear to be a weaker area for him). And whatever happened to Cox as a punt returner? Guy looked really good back when. This stubborn attachment to Kyle Williams is getting ridiculous.
We are heading towards wild card territory, if we get into the playoffs at all, especially following Roman's suspect play calling.
While we're at it, how about some honesty re the O-line. Does the word overrated come to mind? Pass protection was abysmal and has never been impressive, and the success of our run game is as much a testament to Gore's vision, tenacity and ability to ferret out the slightest of seams to penetrate as it is to good blocking.
I thought the Seattle game was ugly, which it was, but this one, after a bye and 2 weeks preparation................ugh!

Couldn't agree more with the OL. They can sometimes stonewall a good defensive front like they did against Houston and STL this year, but it is more often to see them act like human turnstiles and Kap is running for his life.

I was telling my GF how much Frank Gore makes that line and Greg Roman look good. There are so many plays where he should be tackled three yards behind the line and somehow he finds a crease and turns it into positive yardage.

Realistically, I think Staley and Boone are the only linemen we have that pass protect well. Maybe that's why New Orleans got rid of Goodwin?

T.O. being there f**ked us up lol
Harbaugh conceded a point to Grant Cohn in the presser today. That tells you something about Sunday's game.

I'm sure the staff notices. Cohn has a point, but I'm not surprised Harbaugh won't discuss X's and O's with him. Would you expect him to?
Kap has regressed. He doesn't trust his wrs for god knows why?? He doesn't anticpate the pass rush and when the ball should be thrown he holds onto it too long and takes unnessessary sacks. He has the physical tools to EXCEL!! I KNOW!! We've seen it. Its just teams & defenses are figuring him out and Coach Screamer & Roman have FAILED miserably to adjust to how defenses are defending the 49ers simple offense.
It's like Kaep does not practice throwing to anyone but Boldin.

This is by far the best article Lowell Cohn has written. It's a truthful take on the 49ers predicament.

More fault on Harbs + Roman, less on Kaep
He's 80% right. but.....Kaep also deserves some blame for holding onto the ball too long. And Kaeps fault is NOT trusting other recievers other then VD and Quan. Now I know Ronald McDonald dropped that sweet Long Gainer and also KW is a Crub, but you still have to throw to these dudes to make sure defenses have to defend the entire field. And Kap has failed miserably finding 3rd and 4th options. Also Pass Protection has been poopy lately vs Carolina.

yeah i was gonna say the same thing. Not messing with the vet that originally posted, but it is a little funny how most on one hand said they wouldnt even waste time reading a Cohn article. Then when he puts this out, and it pretty much is saying, dont blame kaep, now its a pretty good article.

I have to say i read all articles, Cohn, and whomever else, and the only thing i agreed with was this, With Alex, Harbaugh played what he called "small ball, and it worked". I dont like that reference, but thats what he said in the article so i just restated. With Kaep he's trying to play home run ball,, and at the end of that Cohn should of said, it's not working.

Main quote I could of tore up in his article, Kaep is still a young QB who's still learning. Now ok that may be the case granted, but after last season, it didnt seem like Harb and Co, thought that he'd still be going thru growing pains.

I discussed this with Marvin, and some others agreed with me. Whats all this still young, not ready now mess people are trying to throw at us. If he wasnt ready to take the reigns, they why is he behind center if he has soo much to still learn. Like all of us, with the second half of the season last year, and almost winning the SB for us, I expected to have more GB games from him.

Also, i know that no one said this so im just curious..... anyone thinks, that lack of reps in pre-season would of helped overcome all this. I mean didnt he only play for a few quarters out of all 4 games. I only say that cuz i remember many of us upset when he'd get in for a series, not drive the ball, then Harbs took him out.
