Defensive rookie of the year when the season is done.
If you win Defensive Player of the Year are you also automatically awarded Defensive Rookie of the Year?
Von Miller is also having a good year something like 5 sacks and 18 tackles.
Sadly though, none of those sacks were 'key' in winning any of Denver's games thus far (specially big ones); and due to the fact that Miller isn't on a playoff-potential/winning team, Aldon will remain 2 steps ahead of him in media attention...
Good point
He's also been benched during games because of his play. He has an amazing first step and reminds many people of Derrick Thomas of the Chiefs (sad day) but teams have began to exploit his speed and use it against him. On multiple occasions the chargers went right at Miller counting on him to get too far upfield before diagnosing the play and both resulted in large gains. He will eventually become a great player but right now the game is still very fast for him and he is having the typical rookie growing pains and its costing his team.
Aldon is in a better position because he has the size to hold up at the point of attack and uses his arms more than his speed to beat blocks which keeps him in better position while trying to diagnose the play. While sacks is a glory stat as of right now the top two contenders for DROY are Aldon and Kerrigan. If the niners keep up their dominance and Washington falls apart, it'll be Aldons award to lose if everything continues as it has... which it wont, season is still young and full of surprises.
