So what can we do, other than sit around and watch them grow up on the field? How much of a leash will these guys get, 2-4 years? Reminder this is year two for two of them.
Do we go out and draft more of these young guys or should we grab high priced free agents and have all of our $ tied up in o-linemen.
Your thoughts?
Right now the line is not playing on the same page. Still, the opposition knows that the niners are going to run and we are not going to beat them passing, because they know right now at least JH is playing it safe. Alex has to prove he can make plays down the filed. the enemy is just pinnig their ears back and charging up field and till we burn them they will crown the line and dare us.

My thoughts; Davis & Iupati are to young to play with grown men, Both play with horriblt technique, they are almost always to high and they give up a lot of leverage. Not to mention the mental mistakes.
Staley & Rachal just seem to lack agressiveness and have technique issues as well. Not sure what is going on at center.
All in all, these guys have been handed the positions due to draft status. None of them has to work for nor fight (see Chilo Rachall) for the positions they have been given. Heck we only dress one or two extra linemen per game so they can go out there and truck week in and week out and it won't affect they're pay checks one bit!
All of them knew they wouldn't be cut in training camp, so they didn't even have to worry about the job being taken. Like stealing candy from a baby...
Two players come to mind when I read that, Jeremy Newberry and Eric Heitmann, I think they'd have something to say about that.
Those guys had to work to get on the field. Switching from Guard to center may have helped but niether of those guys looked like our current o-linemen before they made the switch.
Newberry and Heitmann weren't even as good as our current O-lineman before they found homes at Center.

This is football, these are pros. No excuses...
Panthers starting Line w/years exp:
Otah 4/Hangartner 7/Kalil 5/Wharton 8/Gross 9
How do you think our line stacks up to that experience?

I hear you, but I'll wait until I know more. Just because individuals leave, that doesn't mean that the newcomers make big changes to the scheme that was in place.

No they completely overhauled their offensive scheme. Last year they were more of a running team. This year they have a wide open vertical passing scheme. Rob Chudzinski was the offensive coordinator for the chargers. Their offensive personnel is a good fit for that scheme.

The O-Line is not good, right now. It should be better based on the talent, and I hope Coach Jim eventually does something
here.

I thought the OL played alot better today. Still some issues, but alot of improvement, too. Staley had a false start, but otherwise held his own with Trent Cole. Babin beat A. Davis a couple of times, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Progress.
DId Snyder start at RG? I know he played alot, but forgot to check if he was the starter.

Not sure. I know he had three sacks. Not sure how many on A. Davis tho.
I did note, late in the game, that Davis and Snyder were playing well together in pass protection.

I agree and believe the play calling really helped them. There were fewer runs into the stacked box and more short drops by Smith. He was sacked three times but the Eagles were leading the NFL in sacks so that is not a terrible number. Was getting tired of Babbin though! Smith was sacked quickly once when he had two extra blockers...not good. I believe both TEs were blocking on that play so there may have been eight blockers.

Really, Philly's defense is terrible, so even with the Niner's success, there's still alot of room for improvement.
