ah, the old, "30 years ago this worked so lets do it that way" argument. Yes, much better than taking context into consideration.
Using hindsight, its easy to look back on the 2008 Falcons, who were a major surprise, and the 2010 Rams, who were a major surprise, and see why and how they were successful. Partly it was the quarterback. Partly it was other things. Alex Smith is a QB that needs the "other things" to be successful. He was a project that came into a situation where it was impossible for him to development. Partly, it is his fault for not having the abilities that other QBs have. Partly, it was the fault of the organization, which has made many, many mistakes this decade. There's a big picture, and you, and fans like you, only see one part of it.
Also, lets wait a few years before anointing Bradford. Ryan--yes. A homerun of a pick, a great young QB. Bradford had a good for a rookie season on a bad team in a bad division, and played terribly in the second half of the season. I think his ceiling is high but lets wait a few years before we put him on Ryan's level.
