All I can say is.. If I'm wrong about this prediction, I hope it's in a good way, and they exceed expectations.

I can't argue with any of your picks, your first 3 are spot on. I could see still see us hopefully winning 1 more game either between Tampa Bay or Seattle. We are going to be looking for redemption for the embarrassment Tampa Bay gave us last season.
1 Sun, Sept. 11 vs. Seattle Seahawks - WIN
2 Sun, Sept. 18 vs. Dallas Cowboys - LOSS
3 Sun, Sept. 25 at Cincinnati Bengals - WIN

4 Sun, Oct. 2 at Philadelphia Eagles - LOSS - Even if Vick doesn't play I just don't see our o-line protecting Alex enough. Historically, Alex is terrible against the Eagles. In the last TWO meetings he's thrown 5 picks.
5 Sun, Oct. 9 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - WIN (Toss up) - This is a winnable game. Bucs aren't elite or high powered. They are 2-1 and so are we currently. It will come down to game planning and good decision making by the coaches. This is my homer pick.
6 Sun, Oct. 16 at Detroit Lions - LOSS - O-line will be over whelmed I think. Stafford will torch our secondary.

7 Bye (3-3 @ the Bye)

8 Sun, Oct. 30 vs. Cleveland Browns - WIN - Ugly win but we pull it off. (4-3)
9 Sun, Nov. 6 at Washington Redskins - WIN - We finally get a convincing win. Defense comes up big against Rex. (5-3)
10 Sun, Nov. 13 vs. New York Giants - LOSS - Their defense beats our offense. (5-4)
11 Sun, Nov. 20 vs. Arizona Cardinals - WIN - Can't see us losing this game @ home. We tend to do well against the Cards @ home. (6-4)
12 Thu, Nov. 24 at Baltimore Ravens - LOSS - John beats Jim with a better team. Plain and simple. Maybe our first blow out of the season? Who knows. (6-5)
13 Sun, Dec. 4 vs. St. Louis Rams - WIN - Rams are looking like one of the worst teams in the league this year. (7-5)
14 Sun, Dec. 11 at Arizona Cardinals - LOSS - Arizona finally beats us in their house. (7-6)
15 Mon, Dec. 19 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers - LOSS - 2nd blow out of the year? Who knows. Either way...we lose. (7-7 oh noez)
16 Sat, Dec. 24 at Seattle Seahawks - WIN - This should be a win and I think we will really open the playbook for this game. (8-7)
17 Sun, Jan. 1 at St. Louis Rams - WIN - Rams aren't beating anyone this year. Sorry. (9-7)

9-7

Playoffs.

Regardless of how many games this team wins one fact remains. THEY STILL SUCK!!! Wake me up when we have a qb who can win games. SMD!
Here is a prediction:

IF Alex goes into Philadelphia this weekend and plays awful football, just terrible, back-to-his-old-self Alex Smith, and the Niners lose.......

THEN the following weekend against the Bucs, the home crowd is going to eat him alive with every little mistake he makes, just like the last Philly game. Magnify this by 10 if the 49ers lose that one too.

Gonna be interesting to see how Coach Jim handles that.

I think the greater question is whether Alex Smith will be upright after the Eagles game. If we think the guys we have face so far are challenging, then wait until Cole starts up the engine. You have to hand it to Alex so far, he has taken a brutal beating, but still in one piece. However, how long can this continue?

I know that many of the Anti-Smith crowd are eager for his departure, but Kaepernick is so raw it would be a joke to put him on the field.

2 Sun, Sept. 18 vs. Dallas Cowboys - LOSS - Toss-up. Dallas is a tough opponent, but we always play them well at Candlestick. We have the talent to win, and their secondary is poor (I see a big day for Braylon).
3 Sun, Sept. 25 at Cincinnati Bengals - WIN - Very bad, although very young, rebuilding team. We do our jobs, we walk out with an easy win.
4 Sun, Oct. 2 at Philadelphia Eagles - LOSS - Way too talented for us right now. Barring any injury to Vick, we will lose this game.
5 Sun, Oct. 9 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - LOSS - Freeman is only going to be better this year, as well Blount, Mike Williams, and the young Tampa D.
6 Sun, Oct. 16 at Detroit Lions - LOSS - We have had ownage on Detroit in recent years, but I think their defense will harass us and they will wind up winning a close one at home.
7 Bye
8 Sun, Oct. 30 vs. Cleveland Browns - WIN - Another rebuilding team we face who is installing a new defense. We're at home too and we're a better team.
9 Sun, Nov. 6 at Washington Redskins - WIN - Washington is just a very average team. We are more talented, and should win this game.
10 Sun, Nov. 13 vs. New York Giants - LOSS - Unless we can solve the Giants pass rush, this will probably be a blowout loss.
11 Sun, Nov. 20 vs. Arizona Cardinals - WIN - I still don't think Arizona can stop our run game.
12 Thu, Nov. 24 at Baltimore Ravens - LOSS - As much as I want this to be a win.. I don't think we'll stop Boldin, Evans, Torrey Smith, and Ray Rice in Baltimore.
13 Sun, Dec. 4 vs. St. Louis Rams - WIN - We'll beat the Rams at our house.
14 Sun, Dec. 11 at Arizona Cardinals - WIN - See week 11 comments.
15 Mon, Dec. 19 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers - LOSS - It's the 2010 AFC Champs...
16 Sat, Dec. 24 at Seattle Seahawks - LOSS - We might struggle with the Seattle crowd.
17 Sun, Jan. 1 at St. Louis Rams - WIN - We play well in season finales and I think we will steal this one for an upset.

Final Record 8-8.

I don't think we'll be worse than 7-9, based on our schedule, but I don't think we'll be better than 9-7. Here's to seeing whether or not the 49ers meet.. or EXCEED expectations this year.

I have a hard time seeing us win 4 road games, going 4-4 on the road. I'm saying 6-10, if we are lucky.

Aloha Maddog. This Phillys Bone is for you! 6-10??? Gotta love your offseason draft posts, but your preseason prediction was a bit weak...
3 wins (2 on the road, eastern timezone) 1 loss (in overtime) and still in the game for my 10-6 season... Yah Baby!!!!

much closer to season so i want to make my predictions now

seahawks- W- jackson is inaccurate they have a decent secondary but lack a pass rush also they got rid of there best LB no way they will be able to stop the run game

Cowboys -L- this could eaily turn into a win if our o line can stop one of the better pass rushing teams in football and if our D can stop there offense i think its definitally possible with our defense overhaul however i need to see a game first so i will count this as a loss

Bengals- W- rookie QB and there only offenseive weapon is AJ Green although they will have a very good secondary now there offense is way to weak to score on our D

Eagles-W - ok i know you guy will think im crazy for this i dont think vick will bea good qb once teams will be able to gameplan against him and our D is athlethic enough to stop the run and our secondary is fast and strong enough to stop the pass also vick folds under pressure which we will bring. There archillis heel on D is the run game which happens to be our strength i think we pull an upset on the "dream team"

Bucs- L- there defense (specifically D line) is too mumch for our offense (o line) i expect this game to get a little ugly

Lions- W- this will be a close game they do have a great D line (one of the best in nfl) but unlike the Bucs they dont have the secondary to back it up also they have a weak o line expect a lot of pressure on stafford this game it will be a low scoring close game but we pull off a W

Browns W- they are an up and coming team mccoy isnt good enough to beat our secondary and our run D will be too much for hillis to handle

redskins- W - easy W they lack the offense and D to pull of a W

Giants- L- way too talented D also there offense is very good i think we lose pretty badly here

Cardinals W- we always beat them they do have an improved secondary with peterson and marshall but lack pass rush also if warner couldnt beat us wth boldin and fitz i doubt kolb will be able to beat us

Ravens- L - we lose the harbaugh bowl to one of the best teams in the nfl

Rams W- i have serious doubts about bradford he had a pretty bad preseason and till he proves he can pass it long this will be a W for us especially since its at home

steelers L- yikes what can i say one of the best D in the nfl and a good offense to back it up we lose this game

seahawks L - i think CW takes over at this point and for some reason we can never beat the hawks 2 times in a season so we lsoe this game

Rams-W- again i think this is a W they dont have a great secondary and are not great at stopping the run our revamped secondary is to athlethic and much better than last year bradford wont be able to beat our secondary often (again unless he proves he can throw the ball deep)

10-6

perfect so far

lets hope im wrong next week
Yo Salldaway, hope you're wrong next week too. Hey we get TB while they have to travel after they play a Monday night game on the east coast. Then to boot, we do have to travel, but we also get Detroit following their Monday night game.

In preseason I fought we would beat the girls at home and not have as good a chance with the birds. I also thought we would have a better chance against TB at home and less of a chance with Detroit.

Before the birds game I thought we had a good chance to make up for the loss to Dallas, but knew we would have to bring our "A" game. We did!

Right now I wish you were wrong with the girls, glad you were right about the birds, hope you're wrong next week, and hope I'm wrong about the Detroit trip. Ok 10-6 Salldaway, were both on the same page there!!!

I made the predictions before season started didn't know the bucs had a short week so I actually woul actuallyput the bucs as a W now but that would be cheating

Now that I look at it OTC, at 3-1, I can see us beating TB, DET, CLE, and be 6-1.

Then WSH will be a tough one now. Last tough ones are PITT and BAL.

I dont think DET isnt good, I just think they are beatable. I wouldnt rank them top 5. Pit and Bal are better IMO.

You heard it here first, we pull off the biggest upset of the season and beat the Eagles. Everything points to them winning, especially the 10am start in Philly... but they have no run defense and aside from Nnamdi, tiny corners. Gonna need a couple good hits on Vick early, but if we can suck them into a time-of-possession type game with VD, Gore, Walker and Crabs (assuming Nnamdi is on Braylon so he will be shut down) , this will be the year statistics will begin to even out. Can't wait for the ridiculous odds in Vegas, I won a free bar tab (instead of payin ~$50) a week ago and figured that money will go on the game with the most odds stacked against us, this is that game.

Just got paid out on my bet! Shows what a little optimism will do Keep the faith!

Are you smoking crack? TB will be tough like the Eagles, DET will be a loss the way Megatron is playing but we can beat Cleveland. I say we are 5-2 at best, 4-3 worst by the bye.

After that I say we beat the Redskins, lose to the giants, beat the cardinals, lose to the ravens, beat the rams, beat the cardinals, lose to the steelers, beat the seahawks, then beat the rams.

We finish with a 9-7 record at worst, 12-4 record at best and win the NFC West title then lose in the 1st round of the playoffs, inspire hope in the fan base, then draft secondary and sign 1 or 2 offseason free agents that are noteworthy.

Aloha back to you. The Niners are defying the odds in winning both of these EST games. Very impressive. Still think 10-6 is not going to happen, but an 8-8 or 9-7 record looks more likely as the season progresses.
