I say we go 9-7 or possibly 10-6.
I understand we've won 12 of the last 13 against Detroit, but this is a different team. The last time we played them was in 2009 and 2nd-year player Drew Stanton was making his first career start, and he threw three interceptions. Their starting RB was on IR, they had no one worth noting along their DL or in their secondary aside from rookie Louis Delmas, and their OL was poor as well as receiving corps outside of Calvin Johnson. Their TEs were crap. That game was also in San Francisco.
This is their 2009 roster: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Detroit_Lions_season#Final_roster
We have a chance to win if Stafford isn't playing. But even then, we still might lose. We're playing in Detroit, and this is what their roster looks like THIS year:
Offense:
QB: Stafford
RB: Best, LeShoure (IR), Mike Bell, Aaron Brown, Jerome Harrison
WR: Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, Titus Young, Derrick Williams, Rashied Davis, Stefan Logan ...
TE: Scheffler, Pettigrew
Defense:
DE - Avril, Vanden Bosch, Lawrence Jackson, Willie Young
DT - Suh, Corey Williams, Fairley, Sammie Hill, Andre Fluellen, Quinn Pitcock
LB - Tulloch, Justin Durant, Bobby Carpenter, DeAndre Levy, Doug Hogue, Ashlee Palmer
CB - Eric Wright, Chris Houston, Alphonso Smith, Nathan Vasher, McDonald, Berry
S - Delmas, Wendling, Erik Coleman, Amari Spievey, Michael Johnson, Randy Phillips
LIONS PRO BOWL PLAYERS: Calvin Johnson, Suh, Stefan Logan (ST), Wendling, Delmas.
Well, if I had any money, I'd still bet the Niners win that game... despite the Lions improvements.
