Not just a few Raider fans. Where have you been the last 8-10 years. More and more hoodlums, rif raf and gang bangers at Niners games. Wake up and smell the beer, dude! Not exactly Green Bay and brauts on the grill and everyone laughing & having a good time. More like the exercise yard at Pelican Bay. I gave up my season tickets this year partly because of the changing climate. I got tired of sitting in a garbage stadium, watching a team that played like garbage while foul mouth garbage got into fights. only now its become the O.K. corral. Gee and I could of had this for only another $2500 again this year. No thanks we can watch on tv, grill burgers at halftime, and enjoy the game without the foul language and getting mugged in the bathroom.

Exactly.

10 years ago the wait list for season tickets was several thousand deep, according to a friend whose wife worked for the team. Since that time, you can now pick up season tickets just about any time you want. Of course the quality of the product has had a great deal to do with that but the decreased level of true fans that have been replaced by rowdies buying cheap tickets on the internet has also kept people away. For all but the hard-core fan, the "stadium experience" is not worth the price of money and time to go and be subjected to the endless streams of profanity and fights that have now become common place. The stadium is an R rated venue where families are not encouraged.

On another level, with the quality of coverage offered by TV, with multiple networks to view that game with replays from many angles, you can actually see the details of the game better on TV than at the stadium. The only thing about the stadium that I can't get on TV is watching the routes of the pass receivers and the reactions of the DBs. Other than that, it is better to sit at home with the game on DVR and reviewing any play as many times as you want.

I liked the suggestion in the Chron this morning of selling pre-season tix separately at a discounted prices = $25. Read the article for details.

Pelican Bay is right on...I remeber laughing at raider fans...and saying the reason why their games all always blacked out is because nobody want to take their familes to Oakland because of the "hoodlums and gang bangers"....now it's the same thing at the Stick...I have a one year old daughter...I don't think I'll be taking her to any games anytime soon...

you guys crack me up, this Rowdy crowd stuff has been going on since the 9ers were established even at Kezar riots on the field ambulances being flipped over.
I think most of us are responsible and tailgate without ever getting out of control, but unfortunately that is not the case with everyone. I am almost certain that the people involved in this incident were probably not tailgaters but I understand why the 9ers are taking this step. At least they are trying to do something about the issues. I believe the bigger issue is these people that are causing these issues usually have had way too much to drink. I enjoy having a beer or two at the game along with the food it is part of the experience but I would not be upset to see the NFL institute some kind of alcohol policy, and a zero tolerance policy if you have had too much, you get thrown out and escorted off the property along with the ones that came with you. Candlestick is not the only place that violence goes on; I travel across the country and catch a live game anytime I can, especially if the 9ers are in town. I see fights in all the stadiums but I have never had a problem myself other than some crap talk with a cowboys fan a couple of years ago but it was just good fun during the game it never got sideways, But then again I try to avoid at all cost belligerent drunks.
I think that the sharing a stadium with the Traiders just went out the window if that's a silver lining in all this.

I disagree. I have been going to games since Joe Thomas ran the team and the crowd behavior has gotten much worse in the past 10 years.

That is not to say there have not been fights and other incidents, but the frequency and level of violence at games is much higher now.

Also, 15 years ago, if you brought a kid to the game, the people around you would respect the presence of a youngster and clean up their language. That doesn't happen anymore. Many "fans" no longer have any respect at all for those sitting around them. My wife quit going to games four years ago for that very reason.
thisis what happens when folks get shot. I heard the shooting victim's father on radio and it hit home. it's just a game

I don't think so. If we end up sharing a stadium there will be zero overlap between the two fan bases unless we play in the regular season. The front offices will let a few drunken rowdies change game day operations but they won't let them get in the way of a billion dollar shared stadium deal if that's what the NFL wants.

I see your point. The younger society is also failing with knowing how to act even at events outside of Candlestick. While those same people go to games too it doesn't make the 9ers game the worse to attend out the whole NFL as some people are trying to make seem.

Take the Browns incident i think last year when a grown man tackled a kid wearing the wrong jersey. while someone being shot is worse that has never happened at the stick.

I've been going 10 years plus as well and yeah people look like they are gangsters but it's not like they are running around starting trouble with everyone. The only time when I see it gets bad is when the Raiders come to town.

12-million people in the bay area. Bound to be some trash in there.

It's ironic that every generation calls the next generation the worst generation ever.

Not really. Kids never brought guns to school when I was growing up. Now it's almost every month a kid getting caught with bomb plans, a bomb, a gun, etc at some school somewhere in the country. It's getting worse.
They've been showing the actual fight in the stands for the last 15 minutes on ESPN.

good news, can't let violence happen.

People are f**king idiots, and just plain jerks IMO.

Bringing a Gun to a football game, give me a break. Bunch of thugs is what they are.

I dont care whether u like it or not, its to keep everyone safe. You dont need a bunch of drunken idiots brawling. Or having liability issues.

This is for everyones safety. This should be a family friendly environment, not a thug land of wanna be thugs.
Our stadium situation is so terrible that I believe we're the only non-sponsored stadium in the NFL, even the bloody Raiders have one in o.co
