These guys screwed themselves early.
We wanted something new and exiting. The gave us Alex Smith again with the same ol crappy offense. To top it off, we stripped our D, which was the bright spot for the team. We did get Whitner and Rodgers thankfully and Aldon Smith looks good, but what about the OFFENSE!
WHY DID THEY BRING BACK ALEX SMITH? It boggles the mind.

Sign a RT and RG to push the players you have. Get a #3 QB after your OL looks like it belongs in the NFL.

What I don't get is why they haven't kicked tires on Matt Flynn from GB.

Everyone is freaking out about our situation right now and everyone needs to relax. "The Plan" is in place, and we must have patience. Alex was the best option at QB under the circmstances, Kaep is raw and won't really be ready for a year or two, and if we sign Daunte it is only as insurance from a vet that won't have a learning curve. I hear all this trade for Flynn, sell the farm for Johnson talk but it's not going to happen this year. I think it's obvious that Josh Johnson will be a 49er,... next year. He wants to be here and I'm sure Harbs would love to have him here. We are not going to the super bowl this year and are building something special for the future. I think we have weeded out some older players, not really sold on being here, while bringing in or promoting younger players who want to be here when this train gets rollin. We will take some lumps this year, and improve as the season goes on, but I expect great things next season and look forward to watching "the plan" unfold.

Sorry, but no one in the Zone is going to relax after the Niners get boat raced like they did on Friday night. If there was any sign that there was a plan in place that made the team any better, no one would be upset. All the fans were looking for was some progress, especially on offense. The usual suspects of Alex Smith, Rachal, and Anthony Davis all looked just as inept as ever. Bringing in a has been like Culpepper is not going to make this situation any better either. If Baalke has the stones, he should bring in Josh Johnson this year. People are sick and tired of waiting for next year.

Twelve days of practice. Only a few days for many of them. Several starters with no practice. Brand new coaches and systems. Really???? I believe letting guys like Franklin, Lawson, TKO go will make us a better team. Soap or RJF, who looked pretty good against NO, with Ray and Justin will really help our pass rush. Aldon, Willis, Bowman amd Brooks also help pass rush verses Lawson and TKO. Whitner is a big upgrade whether Goldson or Reggie play beside him. Rogers will cover better than Nate, etc. I'm not a big Braylon fan, but think he will be a better weapon than anything we had before as well. True, I believe we improved our defense more than offense, but that really is my point. Baalke is smart to make good moves and improve the team without sacrificing the future. JJ will be a FA next year and will be a 49er. If we're not really contending for the championship this year, it makes more sense to bring him in next year and use the pick we would have traded to fill a different hole or improve somewhere else. I was really just saying this GM is planning for the future and whether we like it or not that is "the plan".

11 practices before the 1st game, dude. 11. Practices. Dude. How much football can you learn in 33 hours, like REALLY learn? Like, "do it instinctively" learn? Probably not a full offensive install, complete with exotic blitz pickup. There is a reason why new coaches are usually given extra offseason practice time. It will get better each week, but it may take well into the season for it to get good. If you expected different, you were kidding yourself.

Exactly. I'm tired of losing as much as we all are, but it's going to take time to BUILD this thing. Planning, layout, instruction, foundation, etc. How many times have we watched teams try to do it in one offseason, maybe even improve, but then crumble. Attention to detail, planning ahead... the Patriot way. Anyone who is/was expecting us to win the Super Bowl this year will be disappointed. If we improve throughout the season the way I expect us too, we will have a much clearer picture exactly what pieces may actually make us a contender next year. I'm actually enjoying watching Baalke/Harbaugh work together and the way they're doing it. This is the best coaching staff we've had from top to bottom probably since Siefert, but it will take some time.

I certainly agree, but watching even a few minutes was excruciating! Can't wait for the next few games to see what progress is made. The OLine will play better but how much? The receivers will get better at their routes, Smith and CK will improve, and hopefully they will be a 9/7 team and slip into the playoffs.

He has a plan. We just don't know it. The loss to NO was by design.
