I wasn't surprised at all by it. Greg Williams was HUMILIATED by his cowardice against the Seahawks in the playoffs...

Was anyone surprised that Alex Smith missed an open Vernon Davis on the first play of the game. A play they practiced at least 20 times, per the chronicle.
Harbaugh was a FOOL to bring back Alex, another HC might go down and Alex will be on his 10th year and 10 coordinators. I would rather cut Alex now, start Kaepernick and get a veteran to start or back up Kaepernick. ANYTHING but watching Alex suck it up so bad.
And don't give me this O line crap, Kaepernick evaded the blitz a few time or did quick throws. If that was Alex he would have been sacked.

Wow... now THAT's the fantastically awful assessments I expected to flood the WZ.
Now, I feel like I didn't visit the wrong site.

....except Kaepernick was sacked 5 times, picked twice, and had the ball batted down a couple times as well.
Not knocking the guy just saying both QBs were doomed today.

my friend, you are a webzoner lol. the timing was very off, but this is a team that basically just started all practicing together a couple weeks ago. there are gonna be timing issues. the oline was very s**tty tonight. you cant throw when your on the floor in a second after the snap. ill save my judgement for the 3rd preseason game where its a lot closer to what we will see in the regular season but even then, i expect some rust until around week 2 of the regular season. smith will be good, the line will block better and we will win games. the sky is not falling

nolan blitzed the hell out of aaron rodgers in preseason too. oh well, its good for the team to face pressure

Good-
No Injuries
I bet the Niners accelerate whatever plan they have regarding a vet QB, my guess is Cinci caves in and we trade for Palmer
(Johnson next year as a FA replaces Smith, if not sooner) Palmer, Johnson, Kap
Chilo may be replaced
Like our new kicker (Im from Philly and also follow Eagles, so ive liked him for awhile)
Very happy to see guys on the D' steppin up
Bad-
Oline, Special Teams, Dixon
Its too early to come up with conclusions, but that idea someone had about moving Staley to RT, Boone to LT and Davis to RG is starting to sound kinda good

Staley apparently will always take sh*t because he expected Iupati to NOT block in with the center. Poor b*****d.
(not saying he's wonderful... cuz he is not)

I think Aldon left some plays on the field, there were times where it just didnt look like he was hustling as much as he could have. Nothing to do with him physically, I think the game was moving faster than him at times, which is fine... it was his first NFL game after all.
What gets me pumped is that he still had a great game statistically, once Aldon is up to speed he is going to tear it up.
also, he had his hands on his hips like the entire game... obviously needs to work on conditioning.

The offensive line gave up six sacks, five of them by the first-team unit, which played into the second quarter against the Saints backup defense. What's most alarming is that the group allowed three big hits on starting quarterback Alex Smith, including on the third play of the game when defensive end Will Smith got inside left tackle Joe Staley and slammed into Smith from behind.
