Feeling positive and upbeat about the state of the Niners. With all the new pieces, ie new Coaching staff, new schemes, new players, there will be some growing pains and everything won't go as planned - we also have a tough schedule - Ravens, Steelers

I'm feeling by midway throuh the season things are really going to start clicking and we'll be 8-8, 9-7. I don't think we are going to get blown out by anyone - when we lose - it will be close.

In 2 years, we'll be playing for trophy and bringing it back to where it belongs.
Agree. I can't wait to see this team get out there and play and grow together

The few concerns this season:

Receivers:
Crabtree has the best hands, but continues to struggle with injuries. The NFL's Yao Ming? Without a full training camp and getting the timing down perfectly, he is probably some liability. Inability to practice eventually leads to major mistakes on the field. With these problems, he should not be higher than a 2nd or 3rd WR on the roster. No great team allows mistake prone personnel onto the field as a full time starter, no matter how talented they are.

Braylon Edwards is a wild card. The team doesn't know what it has until he actually gets into practice and shows his capabilities and consistency. Can he be a reliable and consistent player that works to perfect his craft?

Joshua Morgan: Ideally, he should be seeing a breakout season this year. He is the longest tenured starting receiver, who has worked with Alex Smith consistently. Their timing should be perfect and if it isn't, the deficiencies need to be magnified in camp. The problems need to be identified and repaired. This should be Morgan's year; he has all the tools. If he puts in the relentless work and yet underperforms, the cause is most likely psychological.

All of them must work tirelessly to work all timing patterns and precision routes to perfection. They will have to work smart. With the new WCO, it would help them to watch a lot of Jerry Rice and John Taylor videos to understand the expectations.

Offensive Line:
This is still a young unit, that has to strive to become error free. Hopefully Goodwin can inspire high goals for this unit. This is arguably the most important part of our offense.

Coaching:
Harbaugh has to define Alex Smith's strengths and solidify them, while identifying his weaknesses so that they can make him stronger in those areas. For the last few years, the lack of continuity with the offensive coordinators has been bizarre, to say the least. Harbaugh must create consistency and high competence within the first year. The musical chairs at quarterback by Singletary was deja vu of Mike Ditka with McMahon, Tomczak, and Harbaugh in the 80's and it wasn't very successful back then. Harbaugh has to establish a sense stability at the position by diligently coaching Alex Smith and then build on that with Kaepernick next year. That was the Bill Walsh formula from Steve Deberg to Joe Montana and from Montana to Steve Young. It took a lot of time and a workaholic approach to refine the art.

Tight Ends:
This seems to be the position with the deepest talent. Greg Roman must get both Davis and Walker heavily involved in this offense. Roman seems to have a good background with this position and it should become a greater strength with tremendous versatility this year, if all goes as anticipated.

Running backs:
They must find the Rathman/Floyd prototypical WCO fullback. Vonta Leach, who played under our system and former QB coach Gary Kubiak in Houston, would have been great, but that ship has sailed. A little more speed at the halfback, a la Roger Craig/Ricky Waters would be ideal, but this is nevertheless a reliable unit with Frank Gore.

Defense:
The secondary must make more big plays and the front line with Aldon Smith will be heavily relied upon to apply significant pressure. The 49ers have made many moves to improve on defense and hopefully it works.
