no. first, i find the prospect of Moss being #1 highly dubious. He'll start, but, like I said, we rotate guys in and out, and Moss, especially at 35, will have a specific role. he certainly won't be a true #1. Morgan would have had a different role. They would all have packages they'd be a part of.

We're saying the same thing:

Moss will be a part-time Flanker -- other guys on the roster will split time with him
Crabtree will pretty much be a full-time split end...could slide to Flanker in a 1 WR formation

An attractive scenario is if we draft WR Stephen Hill -- he splits time with Moss at FL and takes over in 2013. We then have a burner at FL and a possession WR at SE (like you should).

if we're saying the same thing now, that's fine, but we weren't in the beginning.
We will replace Rogers with Spencer. Spencer has had chronic hamstring issues so having a whole year to rest, recover and at a reasonable price for a starter, he'll take over for Rogers. Rogers will still be given a fair contract so it will be up to him but if he bolts, it's Spencer and Brown as starters with Culliver/Brock pushing them plus a lower end FA (like Rogers last year) and a draftee.

But I am kind of thinking Carlos is going to take the big bag of cash and run
good let him. i do not care what he did last year for us, I will not get into a bidding war with anyone, it is not worth the long term health of our financial house. besides we can find someone like we did with rogers in free agency who can come in a do a good job behind the best front 7 in the nfl. seems to be there is a good guy from the ravens we could get?
Howard Balzer of ESPN 101 St. Louis is "hearing" that the Rams will pursue cornerback Carlos Rogers when the signing period commences later today.

Top free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan would have been a sensible target for St. Louis because of his ties to coach Jeff Fisher. Finnegan may have priced himself out of the Rams' range, however. Like Finnegan, Rogers has experience covering both slot and outside receivers. He's three years older, though, and didn't enjoy a true breakout season until his age-30 season. So, presumably, Rogers could come cheaper than Finnegan.

The Rams are thin at cornerback after Monday's release of Ronald Bartell. Their other starter, Bradley Fletcher, is coming off a torn right ACL.

Rogers is the 13th-ranked player overall on PFT's Hot 100 Free Agency list.

jumping the gun? this could be a depth signing at best.

Not really, I doubt Rogers comes back, he thinks he is worth more then what we've offered him and obviously at least 1 team is going to look at paying him the big bucks. At worst this the 9ers shoring up the back end of their depth and adding a KR to help replace ginn. They are confident in Culliver and Brown to start next season, rather then wasting money and time negotiating with a guy like this dont you think they would've re-signed Rogers already? Rogers has his offer from us and he clearly thinks its not worth his while and wants to scope out what others will give him. By the time he realizes our offer was a solid offer we might have already moved on.

This. Kid has good size, is very young, has talent and doubles as a good returner. Smart depth move who could help push the CB spot, as a KR/PR and on ST coverage. Smart signing,
