Why does Peyton Manning make his WR's look like pro bowlers? He is a franchise qb and he demands that WR's stick around and play catch with him all off season. That is why UDFA like Blair White looked better last year than Crabtree.
Crabtree could be great if he realizes this is the PRO's, you need to show up year round and have a sixth sense about the person who is your qb.
Peyton Manning makes his receivers look like pro bowlers because Peyton Manning is a beast. Plain and simple.
According to some 9er fans, the only reason why Peyton has had success was because he had workouts with all of his receivers. It has absolutely nothing to do with Peyton just being a good frigging QB.
LOL @ expecting top 10 numbers as a receiver when you have one of the worst offenses and QB's in the league.
... and how did Peyton evolve into a good NFL QB? Could it have anything to do with starting out with a good OC and keeping him and the same scheme for many years?
Hmmm.... think about it... if you can.
I guess McCarthy and Norv were bums...huh?
Peyton threw 26 TD's in his rookie year. Alex threw 1.
Peyton's pedigree blows Alex's out of the water. Not all QB's are created equally. Some are Great...some are OK, and others stink.
Yes, Peyton has a HOF career but to compare the talent on the 49ers in Alex' rookie year with the Colts is light years apart.
One fact worthy of note: In Manning's rookie year, the Colts brought in Tom Moore, a guy with a proven rep, as a personal coach/offensive assistant for Manning. Moore went on to become the one and only OC that Manning has had his entire career. Alex Smith has never had that level of coaching at any time in his career.
Please don't purport that OCs are good position coaches for QBs. The truth is, OCs rarely spend much time with the QB. They spend almost all their time coordinating game plans and offensive design with the rest of the staff. QB coaching is done by the QB coach, of which Alex has had a bunch of former defensive players who never played the position since they left grade school.

Back to Crabtree in 3 - 2 - 1
Alexsexuals crack me up man....
It's a Crabtree thread. I'm not going to argue about Peyton vs. Alex Smith...
Tom Moore was a frigging OC before he got to Indy. He was an OC in Indy and YES he coached Peyton up...but according to what you said, OC's can't coach up QB's. I guess Tom Moore was the only OC in History to perform this incredible feet.
Norv frigging Turner....an offensive co-ordinator did the same exact thing with Troy Aikman....and he's done the same thing with Phillip Rivers. Mike McCarthy was a QB coach for years working with the likes of Bono, Montana, Favre and Gannon.
Funny how Alex got to start his career off with these 2 coaching him up and he still sucked a.ss.
You really think Peyton would have come here and stunk it up with Norv and McCarthy? Regardless of the talent level....there's no way Peyton throws one single friggin TD in his rookie year. Hell, Jimmy Clausen did better than that.
Some players are naturally better than others... That was my point....you went on a long ass rant about what Alex didn't have (Because like...Mike McCarthy and Norv Turner are bums) versus what Peyton had. Who gives a f*k?
philip rivers was pretty good before norv got there, wasn't he?
Phillip had a good season without Norv. With Norv he's had Pro-bowl caliber seasons. Norv took his game to another level.
He almost threw for 5000 yards without a running game, his TE and his top WR. Man, if that was Alex, he would have gotten a good 5 years of excuses.
I'm not hating on your opinion, but I think philip rivers was destined to be good regardless of norv turner or not. The fact that the whole time he has been in Sd with exception of maybe 1-2 seasons, he has had to carry the whole team/offense himself.
I'm sure norv "helped" but he shouldn't get credit for it.. What about norv's time with the redskins? he sure did a lot of good then.....
Precisely....some QB's are just better than others. That's my frigging point. Apparently Peyton Manning is the man he is because of Tom Moore. I find that complete horsesh*t.
