Well maybe if he doesn't take to FB we'll let him stay around as an OLB.

That's where he should be from the get-go. He's a beast going after the QB

So, instead of just signing an undrafted FB, the Niners wanna take an OLB and make him play FB? I could understand if he didn't work out as an OLB first and then move him to FB.......LAME

The LB to FB move has worked so well for us in the past.....

Hey guys. I just signed up for this forum because I was super excited when I saw Bruce Miller finally get drafted to the 49ers. I am a student at UCF, and I am also heavily involved in Sports Journalism.

Here's a little insight about Bruce Miller.

Bruce was the main reason that UCF had one of the top defenses in the entire country in both 2009 and 2010. His relentlessness was apparent at all times, as he truly made an impact on games. He always seemed to make an impact when the game was on the line or when his team needed him.

You guys got an incredible steal with Bruce. He will definitely be able to contribute, and although his 40 time may be a little slow, he makes up for it in his work ethic.

Bruce was the type of player that was loved by the fans. Not only was he the best player on UCF's defense during their 11-3 season last year, the entire stadium would yell "Bruuuuuuuuuuuuce!" any time that he made a play. In perhaps the biggest game in UCF's short football history, Bruce stepped up during UCF's bowl game against the University of Georgia. UCF was up 10-6 and Georgia started driving down the field late in the 4th quarter. Bruce had crucial pressures and a crucial sack that helped UCF get its first bowl win in school history.

Overall, you are getting a great kid who will earn his respect and earn every minute of playing time he gets.

Will he eventually start? That, I do not know, but he will definitely make the most of every opportunity he is given.

I like this pick. You are looking at tenacity and production. Who cares about 40 time or height? It's not everything. There are 6'0" pass rushers or less like Dumervil. This guy is 6'1" and above 250 lbs. That's big enough. The effort, motor and production are there. It's a good pick where he was selected IMO.

Just spitballin but NFL players are temperamental... He plays LB but is athletic enough to play FB. Look at our situation, we want to get certain possibly temperamental players signed to contracts and others with motivational issues happy. If Lawson & Laboy don't come back, and Brooks shows up overweight and outta-shape... I'm guessing he gets some opportunities at OLB but for now it looks like our coaches are going for versatility.

I agree. But they don't want him as a LB, they want him to play FB. Which is dumb. Unless he plays 2-ways

It's a great pick if he gets a shot at OLB... he was one of the most productive sack masters in college.

I'm happy and I think he impresses at OLB. I guess he can play two-way. He had more active career tackes for loss per game than Von Miller, Robert Quinn, Justin Houston and more active career sacks per game than Dontay Moch, Houstin, Quinn, and Da'Quan Bowers! Sure he's not in a strong conference, but his production is impressive!

I give this pick an A grade, but not because he can play full back.
here's an idea, if you want a fullback, why not draft a FULLBACK!?

I don't get this pick at all.

Even though he was drafted to be a FB? Bottom line is he will get chances at OLB in practice on 2nd and third string. If he makes plays and opens eyes, the coaches will be forced to try him out at OLB in addition to FB.

interesting, where do you have this info from?

I was just about to post this.

I feel, as in years past, like our guys are trying to draft "cute."

Only if he plays 2-Way like Owen Marecic, do I see this working. There's no way you take him off the Defensive side of the ball.
