Matt Maiocco @MaioccoCSN
Agree with @mortreport that top outside candidate to replace Jim Harbaugh as #49ers coach is Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
Jcool, is that a tweet from today?
Wow, I brought that up with Phoenix in his thread. I think Bleacher Report also brought up McDaniels last week. Time to do some research.

If he does not fully reload this team in the 2015 draft AND find a coach to take the 49ers to the Super Bowl in Levi's, then Jed better bounce his ass out of here, too.
Right... Because he's been so great at nailing the drafts that he's in. THE most important part of his job. And the best player he got has so many character issues he's a speeding ticket away from being suspended for a year. Yeah, all the faith in the world in Baalke...

If Harbaugh didn't want to extend his contract earlier in the season and his family wants him to go to Michigan, there is not much the FO can do. Let say he stays, that means Roman stays because of his loyalty to his system. I think most fans would not want another year of Roman as OC.

Hey, you're living on memories not the here and now. The staff has messed up the offense big time. SOmeone is accountable -- the coach. That's all. McD has some issues, but I like Seattle OC they are doing a lot with a little over there.

His job is to acquire the talent to win a Super Bowl whether by draft trade or free agency. Have we not had that since 2011? Name three more talented rosters in any individual year since 2011. Can't do it can you? Our talent speaks for itself. Ask any other GM

They've tailored an extremely unconventional offensive scheme around the specific talents of their QB. We have not done this at all. Instead we tried to make him something he is not during a time when we've accumulated Super Bowl talent and weve failed miserably

This, it's going to be the Erikson era all over again. You don't toss the anchor because of a weak link. You replace the weak link, aka roman.

Yup, while I do agree with you but at the same time Harbaugh may not want to be here either so Jed wouldn't have had a choice. However I do think its mutual.
As for the next guy up.....well lets see what happens. I just think the niners will take a big step back next season and I also think some of the long-timers may not want to stay because of the new coach.

Reports say Harbs is gone after the AZ game. Glazer is reporting and the local media is reporting it (maiocco, etc.). I don't usually believe the national reports but the local guys, kinda hard to not believe.

Why is everyone intrigued by Josh McDaniel? Because he works with a Hall of Fame QB and is micromanaged by a Hall of Fame coach? Good grief, his time in Denver was a disaster. He was prideful, arrogant and hard to work with. And he couldn't select talent if he had a Hall of Fame lineup in front of him. Why would we trade one SOB for another? Why not just hang onto the SOB we have, who has proven he can win?
Pride always comes before the fall, and York/Baalke need to swallow theirs and keep a proven winner.
I think he's learned from his Denver experience. It's a gamble that could payoff.
Thats my issue. A successful coach normally is kept. Look at Tomlin, Belichik, Marvins, McCarthy, Garrett. I mean they have been successful and had down years. Harbaugh had 1 down year. I just hope Baalke knows what the F*** he's doing because he has alot riding on the line. I mean if it wasn't for Harbaugh, Levi's wouldn't have gotten built. I honestly hate Levi's by the way because the team doesn't play well there, its hexed. I am expecting a down 2015 season at this point. There isn't a coach outthere right now that could be successful in his 1st year I don't think.
If Harbs stays in the NFL, he's going to a team with talent and will have another shot at making the playoffs. He'll play the niners and probably beat them because he'll know their weaknesses.

Quite the contrary, I think the players will want to stay once we can get a new coach. Harbaugh has already lost the locker room. He has let down every single player on that roster thanks to his BS new offensive philosophy. I have no idea who we are going to hire or how good the new coach is going to be, but I do know one thing, it signifies hope and our guys can forget about all the BS that Harbaugh had asked them to do to fxxk up the season and start afresh from a clean slate.

That is a problem cos in all likelihood the Pats should go quite deep into the playoffs. I wonder what other candidates do they have in mind. I am sure Glazer or Shefter will be breaking more news as time goes on.
