Jeff Reed- Age 31 (turns 32 in April)
Stats:
Nedney-80.3% career on FGs with a long of 56, career pts 1113 in 16 seasons
Reed-82.2% career on FGs with a long of 53, career pts 959 in in 10 seasons
Both are a career 99.1% on PATs.
I think both K's are pretty good, I know we have Nedney under contract for at least next season. Assuming we get our pick of the 2 K's who do we want? I think Reed might be the better pick, similar stats between the 2 and Reed is 6 years younger.
I'm having trouble thinking of Reed as our long term K though. Nedney is nearing the end of his career, Reed probably has 4-7 years left if he can remain productive. With a career long FG of 53 yards I'm starting to think both these guys should be considered stop gaps until we can find someone with a better boot that can deliver from 45+ consistently.
Thoughts?
