What Role The Fullback?

In Walsh's W.C.O the Fullback was very important not only for blocking, but also running AND catching the ball. Rathman was a punishing runner/blocker and one year actually lead the N.F.C. in number of receiving catches. William Floyd was also outstanding in all aspects of blocking/running/receiving. Craig started his career as a fullback for Wendell Tyler and we know what kind of runner/receiver/blocker he was. Norris on the other hand can't carry these guys jocks. Will Harbaugh bring back the fullback to our our offense like Walsh or will he minimize the position like the rest of the N.F.L?

I've been advocating for this for 4 years now.. But, help is on the way. Guys like Snelling, Tolbert, and Hall are all FA's, and their's a lot of guys in the draft. THe beauty of the WCO is a BIG RB with an all-purpose skillset, can be a star FB (in a WCO system)..

I've seen posts before saying that because of Vernon and Delaine the fullback will not have a big role. I beg to differ. I can't wait for us to utalize this position once more. Green Bay uses three or four wide sets plus the TE and they still have enough touches for Kuhn. Speaking of Kuhn, I have been very impressed with him. Contributes in the run, pass, and blocking game. That is the prototype FB I want us to aquire this offseason, be it Marecic or whomever.

I would love Tolbert on this team. Has there really been any star FB's in the league since Alstott?

As I said two posts above yours, I'm a big fan of John Kuhn in Green Bay. He's a stud, not a lot statisticly but that position rarely is one that puts up stats. He is a good all around player who kind of reminds me of Tom Rathman.

STANLEY HAVILI out of USC!! He would be perfect in that role. He can block, catch, and run. Could be had hopefully in the 4th with one of our picks. Here's hoping

Im a strong believer in getting a kid in there and teaching him up. This is a great option....hopefully he will still be on the board by the time the 9ers can draft FB with all the other holes.
