These latest developments is leading me to believe Baalke was Sing's rat.
Dirty. I am actually happy there was a rat to expose the crap coaching.
From what came out of Sing last week, and what's been stirring today, I think Baalke and Sing's relationship was blatantly toxic. -The two never saw eye-to-eye, and Sing pretty much muscled out Trent's authority/suggestions.
One of the most interesting things I remember last April (on day one of the 2010 Draft) was what happened in the draft 'war room' (via 49ers.com) around the time the 49ers traded up for Anthony Davis. -There was a distinct malaise in Baalke's attitude when he was trading up for Davis.
My gut tells me Baalke wanted to trade back one of the first rounders (only drafting Iupati in the first round) for more picks so we could nab Bulaga & Nate Allen. -Nobody looked thrilled in the 'war room' when we had to settle for Taylor Mays.
I do hope that what you say is true. And I have read and posted on a similar theme, i.e., that Baalke should perhaps not be held accountable for past decisions made on the personnel side. If true, it does offer some hope and expectation of better performance from our front office; particularly in the areas of talent evaluation and roster building.
Some of us did not like the way lat year's draft went down in the early rounds, AT ALL. I did not witness any "going-on's" in the Niner draft room, but I do recall reading some hearsay suggesting that Singletary was guiding the knee jerk process.
Perhaps this was the reason that Baalke insisted on having final say on personnel decisions; he did not want to be held accountable for the incompetence of some other lame-brained ego maniac. Remember, he did negotiate his deal before the Harbaugh hiring.
While I am positive that Baalke will do a better job with FAs and in determining the make-up of the roster, the actual talent-evaluation skills of his department have yet to be tested. This draft is going to be INTERESTING.
Anyway, the facts emerging, i.e., that Baalke and Singletary were polar opposites is like music to my ears.
