I know it's not popular to say but I like Clements.... As the nickel CB. He is getting paid too much and will take a pay cut or GTFO lol. But he is a animal when it comes to tackling and matches up well with nickel sized WR's. Also who would be our CB's? Spencer, Brown, a free agent, a rookie? Starting Spencer or Brown is a joke. A free agent, who? At what price? A rookie? 2nd rounder at best, would starting him be smart? 1st rounder Joe Haden struggled on his first year.
My point is Clements should stay IF he takes a pay cut.
The top cornerbacks who could become available as free agents are Champ Bailey, Eric Wright and Antonio Cromartie.

I would love to hear an educated Anti Clements response......

I wouldn't be upset if he were to stay or go.

You know Im sick of his ass as a CB, HOWEVER, I think he would be one HELL of a FS....he would be playing 10 yards off the ball most of the time.
I think this would be a good move. He plays the ball pretty well when it is in the air and he plays the run really well. Pay cut must happen cause he is not worth that money.

You must like soft unimaginitive defenses
The Ninja package is unimaginitive? He basically invented the DL standing up and hovering around the LOS thing.
Rex Ryans been using that method forever..
Oh yeah, and hopefully he's not coordinating our defense next year. He has very uncreative blitzes and schemes, and we've been lacking a pass rush and decent pass defense for a while now, and not to mention we still can't stop screen plays or give our team a stop in crucial situations.
Hopefully we move to a 4-3 base defense next year.
Who is a 4-3 DC out there that you know of. My Dad wants the 4-3 but I'm not sure how we would fill the spots on a 4-3. I really like Willis and TKO as ILB. I just not sure if we can get a better DC as of now.
Just kidding.

I doubt that any of those names end up in SF.

I feel like the only time we really did that was in Indy v. the Colts last year. I don't get where that type of defense went?
Some coaching staffs actually do their job, even in the off season...

No pass rush = poor pass defense. Going, going, gone.

It'll be up to the new HC.
That said, I think he's done a rock solid job. A lot of you want to throw the baby out with the bath water. He's done a remarkable job considering he has had no stud pass rusher and no help from the DBs.
He's hid our biggest weakness from being horribly exploited on a regular basis. Does he get beat once in a while? Sure...but considering how bad we are at CB and FS it could have been a LOT worse. Let's also remember the amount of time our defense has spent on the field. I think statistically our defense is middle of the pack in terms of points given up and yards given up, but has spent a lot of time on the field. Combine those two things and you have to give Manusky his props.

The guy could not scheme a pass rush, he never figured out how to defend a goddamn screen pass and our secondary gets picked apart almost every single game, due in part to his soft coverages. We can't stop the short stuff because of these cushions and yet we still get burned deep game after game. The guy just isn't that good.
and then the veteran QB's just kill us

HOW THE f**k CAN YOU NOT STOP A SCREEN AFTER 3 YEARS?!
Good job playing 10 yards off the LOS when it's 3rd and 6.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Manusky!
Agree, he can go!

They spend a lot of time on the field because they cannot stop the opposing offense.

wrong, that would be bellicheck, was doing it long before manusky and now several teams do it. Niners blitz less than any other 3-4 team in the NFL, play soft coverage and still manage to give up big plays. The ONLY thing our defense does well is stop the run
