You're an idiot. Manny is one of our better players on defense.

What ever!!!! Both Brooks and LaBoy are better then him. PLUS he want to get $$$ more then he is worth. Sorry Manny!!!! See you next year when the Seahawks sign you.

what are you smoking? Manny Lawson is one of the best OLB in the league. There are not many LB that can set the edge and cover a TE like he can.

The dude has underachieved since he has been drafted. YES he is above average in his coverage skills, but only average in the rest of his game. He wants to get paid more then Calvin Pace. I am sorry but I don't want to pay a OLB in a 34 D that can't get to the QB consistently, that kind of money. IF he drops his price thats a different story. But typically OLB in a 34 both need to apply pressure on the QB!!! That is one of Manny's short comings. I think off the top of my head he had 6 sack all of last year. Not worth the $$$$!!!

Manny Lawson was never a passrusher. So expecting him to magically turn into this passrushing monster is ridiculous. Also Manny Lawson isn't that bad of a passrusher. He is just like the rest of the players on defense. They can get to the QB but just can't bring him down when they get there.

If you look at successful 34 teams both of their OLB can get to the QB!!! Why pay that kind of money to Manny when he hasn't shown that he can do that. He has never produced double digit sacks sine he was drafted. If I had to pay that kind of money he better have double digit sacks!!! I am just sayin!!!!

Heitmann -- he was good for a while, but now he's got a broken left leg, right leg, and neck injury on his record here. It's time to upgrade.

Rachal -- I can't count how many times Chilo just looks bewildered out there, as if he has no clue what to do. Sometimes he really does just do nothing, and lets linemen run free at the QB. We cannot afford to have a new franchise QB with torn shoulders again.

Sims -- too old, it's over.

Norris -- see above.

Baas -- Two horrific, costly snaps this season; one for a safety, one into the dirt for a huge loss at a critical point in the game. Add concussion after concussion among other injuries, and it's time he leaves.

Clements -- Where the frick did your instincts go? When your safety is setting up to make a pick, why the EFF would you smash into the receiver like a straight-up imbecile? You never look back for the ball, you play 10-15 yards off of players far slower than you. Double moves beat you 99% of the time. You're entering your 12th season. It's time to go.

Goldson -- You can hit, but you can't cover, and when you miss.. you miss bad. We can't have that.

Haralson -- You should be traded to a 4-3 team. You're better just rushing off the edge for the brief burst you have. After that, you can't even run down a fullback. If you can, you'll just whiff on the tackle.

Carr - You suck. Nothing more needs to be said.

That's about right as far as a list.

This pretty much sums up for me. Add to the list:

-Shawntae Spencer: still making stupid mistakes, still not a very good tackler, and it's still a bit of an adventure from time to time watching him try and locate the ball...still. If he's going to be someone our young guys are looking to as an on-field model, then I think he sets a bad example. We're trying to turn down the suck, not promote it through tolerance.

-Abrayo Franklin: can't sign his contract and show up to camp on time=kick rocks you big fat fatty. He'd be dynamite in a 4-3, but we're loaded at DT. Don't need a fat ass over valued slacker on our team. He can go somewhere in the division as far as I'm concerned. He doesn't deserve what he'll be asking for anyway and I'd love to see a division rival over pay.

-Reggie Smith: if you can't tackle, you can't play defense.

-our fat ass kicker: we don't need a creepy alcoholic wingman kicking our FG's.

-our old ass kicker: whatever. It's the least of our problems right now and Joe probably won't be here by the time we're good again. He makes quite a bit for a kicker with one bad wheel.

Since when are we "loaded at DT"????? I didn't know that RJF="LOADED"

I'm guessing you don't think anyone besides RJF is worth keeping so I'll consider your question rhetorical, and just skip past the part where we argue about it. I think our DT's are good enough to get the job done and if we get McDonald back, I like our depth too. Go f**k your hat if you don't like it. You happy now? See, I can do it too; I know you're not happy

It is more than that. At no time during the season that I can remember did the 49ers ever bring consistent pressure on the QB.

Lawson was one of those 'tweener experiments that failed because the coaches keep trying to put a round peg in a square hole. Manny is a very good cover LB and plays the run very well. Those are things a team needs. The problem with pass rush isn't Lawson, it is that there isn't anyone else that puts pressure on the passer.

Letting Lawson walk makes no sense whatsoever. If he goes, the team will need two new OLBs as none of the ones they now have can rush the passer at all. At least with Lawson you have a guy who is very good at two of the three things you need.
Manusky. See ya later buddy! Keep on playing our CBs 10 yards off the LOS on 3rd and 8!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Nate "Roddy White's Girlfriend" Clements, Reggie Smith

Barry Sims, Chilo Rachal, Eric Heitmann, Adam Snyder

Jeff Reed, Joe Nedney

Isaac Sopoaga, Demetric Evans, Ray McDonald

Bryan Westbrook, Moran Norris

Every quarterback not named Nate Davis

The 49ers problem is they have way too many "happy" guys. Happy to be in the league. Happy to be picking up a paycheck.
Look let's be serious for a minute, a team that woefully under achieved as we did, a team that is staring 5-11 in the face. When it should be 11-5, no one should feel safe.

If we want to attract a top tier GM no player no coach no trainer should be exempt from firing, cutting or trading.

I am a big fan of #52, but if we brought in a Parcels, or Pioli and they felt a trade would improve this team...so be it!

This is a business, a business that is about one thing...winning, f**k any lightweight fanboys who say different, it's time to quit screwing around it is time to do what ever needs doing, if we gotta shed blood, we shed blood!

Blasphemy!

Nah, just kidding I happen to agree. If trading P. Willis, Gore, or V. Davis would ultimately be the best long term option for this team then so be it.

I think Manny's probably one of the worst kept secrets in the league. He might have been a misfit here, but I'd bet my bottom dollar we'll be in a bidding war with more than a few 4-3 teams looking to upgrade. We don't even know if he wants to come back anymore. What we do know is he was ticked off earlier this year when he wasn't offered an extension. That was our chance to get him back at a fair price, and I'm thinking we probably F'd that up now. Ball's completely in his court when it comes to negotiations from where I'm sitting.

The looming lockout might be the only thing that gives us the inside track with him, as I'm sure the last thing he wants to do is go into an off-season after the year he had without a contract. 9ers will have to guarantee a bunch of whatever they agree to I'm sure, but if we switch to a 4-3 I think he'll be a pro bowler right away. Pretty sure the FA signings will be fast and furious; if Manny hits the open market I think we'll be on the back burner with him.
