49ers have dumb talent.

Nate Clements is a decent corner but he is DUMB! The pass interference penalty today on a ball that we clearly were going to intercept. Turn your head around you idiot!!! The game clinching interception in Atlanta that he fumbled right back to Atlanta so they could drive down the field for the game winning field goal.

Josh Morgan before the last few games has played dumb!!! Costly fumbles, not catching balls.

Ted Ginn not going out of bounds at the end of the game today. Wasting precious time.

Bad snaps, bad kicks, penalties that no other team gets except for the Niners.

Just DUMB!!!

It's coaching, Period.

Why does a football coach need to tell a "professional" player basic protocal for certain situations? 99 percent of the Zone knows what to do.

How is the Clements interference penalty the coaches fault, it's Nate's fault he is an IDIOT. All the false starts are on the oline not the coaches.

I'm happy Sing is getting fired, but lets not act like this season is on the coahes, alot of it is on the players too.

It's the coaches' fault because Clements should have been made safety this year. He's not fast enough to stay with WRs as a CB. So he was desperate in trying to catch up to the WR (biting on the fake as usual) and went dumb and committed the PI when the interception was covered by a teammate. Also, coaches' fault: Clements should have been benched after the Atlanta fumble.

yes and we send some talent packing Jason Hill 4- 77 yards today. Kentwann Balmer making an impact in Seattle, Micheal Spurlock in Tampa, and the list goes on.

I never understood the Jason Hill situation. He was playing pretty well at the end of the '08 season, then when Martz was fired and Jimmy Raye came in he never saw the field again. Singletary lost his job the day he fired Martz. The offense has been terrible ever since.
It truly is the coaching...watch what happens once a new GM and experienced head coach settle in and hire a new staff who can actually develop our young players. The Rams and Bucs are two good teams to emulate...both have good head coaches, good coaching staffs and have drafted and acquired players smartly. Both have turned their franchises around quickly. It can happen in SF, too...so, Jed, you go, man, do what must be done.
It ALL starts at the top. Yes a players should know and be aware of a lot of those situations... BUT I believe that coaches can change that.

The Clements fumble in ATL is a perfect example. After the game Sing said he didn't fault Clements for trying to score! SO Singletary was OK with him trying to score a meaningless TD when instead he could have gone down and secured the win??!!!

COACHING... ugh.

I think it's a serious combination of both. Dumb players aren't going to do anything any smarter when you've got a bunch of idiots coaching them.

My folks drove in for holidays and my father and I watched the game like the good ol' times, and he and I were just discussing this exact topic today of how our players are so incredibly talented, yet play like a bunch of imbeciles. It's like they possess no football intellect, no know-how, no in-game IQ. It's embarrassing. We look like a bunch of fools on the field. Big, fast, strong fools.

We make sooooo many mistakes that are seen in high school and college games. These guys are professionals and should not be making these mistakes. When several players are making these mistakes, it has to be coaching. Whether it be the choice to pull them, proper preparation or whatever, the coaches are not putting them in position to win and make plays...

And look at KC - a good coaching staff is getting a ton of production out of talent that was underperforming before.

i cant believe we gave Clements 80 mil. he sucks so bad.

how many big plays has he blown for us? plays like today where he didnt bother to turn his head. he knew he had a S in position to make the pick, or at least bat it down, and he just comes flying in and crashes into the WR. totally unnecessary. a mistake a rookie would make. come on. it changed the momentum for the game.

and then obviously against ATL. he picks the ball off to seal the win, and hes dancing around in the tacklers trying to score, doesnt protect the football at all while Roddy White chases him down and swats the ball right out. that was a win that he literally cost us himself. out of pure idiocy.

same thing like last season with Dre Bly high-stepping at the 50 yd line and having the ball punched out. correct me if im wrong, but wasnt that against those same Falcons, and wasnt it Roddy White who punched it out again?

i cant understand why professionals make these mistakes. all theyve done their whole lives was play football. how do you make those mental mistakes? how dumb are you? you can criticize coaching for discipline, but if a long time veteran CB doesnt have the common sense to protect the football and know the situation, he isnt going to change. we need to shed our team of all the players who make dumb mistakes. Ted Ginn not getting out of bound immediately after the catch to end the game today is completely inexcusable. how do you not know the situation???

this team....ugh.

Ok I have really had enough of this stupid hate towards Clements. 1 - We gave Clements 80 million, why? Because he was the BEST available at the time, and we had to overpay a bit because the team sucks. Would you have preferred they signed someone else? Maybe had a 6th round pick start instead? No - then you just would have bit@#ed that the 49ers don't spend money on players.

As to the "Clements single handedly cost us that Atlanta game"...really? Well if he doesn't make that INT, then Atlanta still has the ball anyway. So he didn't cost us the game, he just didn't save us the game like it looked like he was going to. You blame a 49ers defender for trying to do something with the ball - first off, it's called instinct. Secondly, HAVE YOU SEEN THE 49ERS OFFENSE?? yes all they had to do was kneel down, but when you're a defender that has played a TON of minutes because your offense has been pathetic the last couple of YEARS - you feel like you need to do something when the opportunity presents itself.

Good TEAMS don't put themselves into a position where one mistake by one player will cost them the win.

lol defend him all you want, but he cost us that game. yes, he made the pick. very good. he did his job. thats what we PAY him to do, he isnt doing us a favor that is forgiven if he fumbles it away. he gets paid HUGE money to be a smart veteran CB. he made the play, and instead of knowing the situation and falling to the ground, he starts running for a TD and doesn't protect the ball. its pure idiocy.

your logic is like saying "well the kicker drilled that 50 yd game tying FG at the last second, so when he shanked the kick wide right from 25 yds out in OT, and we ended up losing the game, its ok. we wouldnt have been in OT without him anyways, no big deal."

the year we signed him, youre right, there wasnt a better option. but we didnt have to spend 80 mil on anyone. we were a crappy team. crap teams that are missing tons of pieces to the winning puzzle dont go sign one of them for 80 mil. you rebuild via the draft and wait til you need 1 or 2 pieces to complete that winning puzzle, THEN you spend 80 mil on a f/a. Clements was paid big bucks to play "decent" CB for a few years, and terrible CB for a couple years, all in a span of time where we never were even good enough to make the playoffs. we couldve not made the playoffs with a minimum salary draft pick at CB.

the whole point is, Clements was overrated the day we paid him, hes been overrated the entire time hes been here, and he makes bonehead plays way too often for his experience level. nobody should be defending him. if you bought his jersey, im sorry, but he stole money from this team.

AMEN!

Although, dumb coaching elevates the dumb plays out of dumb talent, too.
We are a pretty dumb team or a team that doesn't use it's head or seem to have a strategy. Some of that is players and some of that is coaching. But our guys don't have that "clutch it factor."

Regarding the Atlanta game, the point is that the game was won by Clements simply sitting down. His runback was dumb. His PI today was dumb. Yes, catching it was great, not immediately securing his team's victory was inexcusable.

We didn't give Clements $80 mil, I wish people would stop saying that, it drives me crazy.

The last years of the contract are basically fake and highly inflates the total value. In actuality he got 5 years and $43 mm or so. only 22mm of the contract was guaranteed, we could cut him loose and not pay the last three years, which are around 11mm apiece.
