This is funny here.....

In any other other season we would have been eliminated weeks ago. We stink and the whole NFC west stinks. This season is an aberration and Sing needs to go. Or else we will be right back here in 2011 and crying over a bad team and chasing elusive playoff dreams again.

Yeah, but we're not eliminated. If we make the playoffs and lose Sing is gone. If we make the playoffs and beat the Saints then obviously we deserve to be there. Win-win either way. You root all year for the team just to give up now, when they are two wins away??

It's not win win either way - the problem is is that if we make the playoffs and we lose then it's pick #21. If we fail to make the playoffs we'll probably be picking around #7.

Just spotted an article that has Nolan saying he should have ditched Alex way earlier - interesting null

By your logic shouldn't we have just forfeited every game this year. And next year. And the year after that. Then we'll have top picks every year. Sure has worked out for the Lions hasn't it?

I wouldn't consider Stafford, Suh and Best slouches.

With this ownership you never assume anything. And, no, even if by some fluke we did beat the Saints that would not mean we deserved anything. It would still be ONE win and next year we would still stink.

It's pathetic some of you guys really want us to lose instead of win. We've been losing for close to a decade and we haven't gotten significantly better. Higher draft pick doesn't mean we will get better.

True, having high picks haven't helped us previously but has been due to our awful coaching and player-picking prowess. If we get a decent offensive minded coach and give him the reigns then a high pick could really be beneficial.

if we get a decent offensive minded coach then he could still make us better with a low pick. and we'll have extra playoff experience. BOO YA SON

Maybe a low pick could help us, but a high one would help us more. Surely we want to give the incoming coach the best possible ammo?

One more thing, I really doubt getting destroyed by the Saints in the WC game will really help the players gain playoff experience - just further humiliate them.
As the saying goes, "You don't learn anything from losing apart from you don't like losing!"

You're proving my point. After losing in the playoffs they are going to hate themselves. Maybe it will motivate them to work harder in the offseason to reach that next level. Even if it motivates only ONE player to try harder, it's worth it

No not at all, because at that point we didn't know for sure Sing and Alex were hopeless, we were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt - but no more.

Besides i'd love to have Stafford despite his injury problems

Sure good players, but the point is they have had zero team success despite great draft position. Therefore, why do we value draft positon more than the playoffs?

I wouldn't consider DeSean Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees to be slouches either, and they all were late first or even 2nd rounders (cheaper than top picks too).

We should have a seperate forum for 'fans' who'd rather see us forfeit than make the playoffs. 49ersTwilightZone.com

Like I said, I'm neutral on this. Win or lose it won't bother me. That includes where in the draft we'll be picking.
This team has many holes that need to be stuffed.

We need a shutdown corner, a passrusher, a QB, a OG, a speedy WR who can strech the field AND catch the ball.

Picking 21st in EVERY round will not help in any way.

another 'fan' who'd rather forfeit than watch the first 49er playoff game in nearly a decade

Seems like the Steelers, Colts, Ravens, Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Packers, Chargers, and Patriots don't seem to have a problem picking late in the draft since they are consistently good, consistently picking late and consistently REMAINING good

word

and the teams that draft early consistently are awful. just shows that draft position has no correlation to team success. it's how you draft, not where you draft.

Which is why we need a strong front office, starting with a good GM. Until we get that we will not have success. Firing Sing is only the first step.

Here is what I think is silly.

Fans who watched the Niners sucking ass all season against decent teams but now think they will suddenly be able to beat teams like the Packers, Giants, or Saints in the playoffs.

The Niners WILL get embarrassed in the playoffs (if they make it).
