Some. Our Line is not very good despite years of drafting guys. At some point you have to look at coaching. The Patriots plug in guys when there are injuries all the time and they perform like pros on the O Line.

I think the two guys we drafted in 2010 will both be better in 2011...David will be much better (sometimes rookie tackles look terrible, then get much better).

Mike Solari is our O-line coach, and he is supposed to be the best in the game along with Alex Gibbs.

Heitmann's loss was rough too.

Chilo Rachal was a poor draft choice, Bass was mediocre, and I don't think I have to discuss Cody Wallace.

OMG, 2 words DeSean Jackson!

2008 is up there with 1995 and 1997 as the worst drafts in 49er history.

I think 1997 was the worst, when Dwight Clark gave a big "Go F-yourself" to Bill Walsh when he told the 49ers that Jake Plummer was the real deal.

I truly believe that if Jake Plummer came here in '97, he would have had an elite, all-pro career and would have taken over seamlessly in '99 for Steve Young. 3 HOFers in a row at QB.

Alex Smith has outplayed Donovan McNabb in 2010...pretty silly comment.

In what exactly ? the 2 point lead in QB rating ?

Yes...why would you swap a 26 year old for a 34-year old, who both produce the same...and McNabb plays for an elite play-caller and has played in that system his ENTIRE CAREER?

Because McNabb has a proven track record. Smith does not. Mcnabb is a probowler. Smith is not. McNabb has excelled in offenses where he had little to no offensive weapons. Smith has not. Shall I go on ?

McNabb is past is prime, has lost his legs, and has always had excellent coaching. Smith will only get better...sadly it will probably be somewhere else like Arizona or Minnesota.

Why would we want a washed up McNabb and a unproven Jon Gruden, who got fired for underachieving in Tampa Bay.

In addition to a bad football move, I think it would be a very bad business decision for Jed to bring Sing back. New stadium prospects are tough enough w/ a winning team, luxury seats won't sell, and on & on.

It would be a depressing business environment to back a loser. There is almost zero hope w/ Sing.

A new HC & [hopefully] GM would get people excited again. Frankly, if he retains Bozo the Sing we'll all need a shrink.

I don't like Singletary, but I do think he can improve as a coach. A better O-line, more continuity on offense (if Alex Smith comes back), and a little less bad luck (Atlanta, New Orleans, and Carolina Games)...and we're a 10/11 win team.

McNaab has been sacked 37 times so far this year, 2nd worst in the league. He has been sacked 8% of his passing attempts ( in contrast to Alex's 7%). I suspect our line is worse than WASH's. In SF, McNaab would collapse.

There will be some who say that our line will be better next year, probably the same guys who thought our line would be much better this year than last. We saw how that turned out. Don't count on it.

McNabb has lost his ability to buy time in the pocket with his legs and, as a result, is all washed up.

Are you basing that off this season ? Considering that McNabb has no talent surrounding him, he has still passed for over 3000 yards and averages 258 yards passing per game. Has Smith ever come close to that ? And this is McNabb's worst season.

Oh, and even with a s**tty team, the Redskins have the 16th ranked offense in the league......and are ranked 9th in passing.

Not bad for a guy that has passed his prime, dont you think ?

and what would your plan be ?
OL protection, offensive and defensive scheme. These two things alone buried us into failure this season. How much? Hard to quantify... but clearly A LOT.

So do we address RG in the offseason?

Also, I recall some posts from the summertime that said we will struggle with two rookies.

football gods willing, the new coaching staff will make some changes and put some starting spots on the field up for grabs RG being 1 of them. snyder was a bad tackle but a decent RG and he made davis look better too. so put the spot up for grabs hell id even through boone into the mix. if he can play tackle there's no reason he shouldn't get a look at RG. it looked like he had a serious chip on his shoulder and he has displayed at least for the moment that he'll do what it takes to get his shot on the field. tired of chilo and his annual late season surge to average.

Shanahan can turn sh*t into gold...truly a miracle worker.

REX GROSSMAN threw for 322 yards and 4 TDs today.

Santana Moss has 1,000 yards receiving and Chris Cooley has 750+.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Didn't think of Boone @ RG before. Usually, a right guard is nothing more than a right tackle with crappy footwork.

McNabb has a 77.1 qb rating, and Alex has a 79.2 QB rating. McNabb has weapons, Santana Moss, Ryan Torain, Keiland Williams, he had Cooley and Portis at the front end of the season. The biggest thing is that he has a coach who is a superior offensive play caller. Mc Nabb is past his prime and turning 35 next year, he's never been a pocket passer, it would be a complete horror for him to come here.

Because McNabb has a proven track record. Smith does not. Mcnabb is a probowler. Smith is not. McNabb has excelled in offenses where he had little to no offensive weapons. Smith has not. Shall I go on ?

Starting 2 rooks, you expect a certain amount of issues along the line. You almost have to give them both a pass as far as performance goes.

Then you have the injuries to Heitmann and Staley. Add in Rachal's horrible play and you have the current abomination that is the Niner O-line.

Speaking of Rachal, why is that guy untouchable? He is easily the worst player on the line, INCLUDING the rooks.
