What's the point of having Alex Smith, Troy Smith and David Carr as your QB's?

We know what they bring to the table. Lets see what Nate Davis has. EVALUATE YOUR TALENT

Blanked at home vs. Tampa Bay. Lost soundly to GB. The only 2 good teams he faced BTW. We know...

The 49ers were becoming more efficient on third down when Alex Smith was the quarterback, however. San Francisco converted 21 of 42 (.500) third-down chances in the final three full games Alex Smith played before suffering a shoulder injury. The team has converted 18 of 61 chances (.295) in five full games with Troy Smith.

Nate is not NFL QB material.

If Nate were any good, some other team would have snatched him off of our practice squad.

Just because he has a strong arm and played OK against 3rd stringers in the preseason doesn't mean he can play in a real game against NFL starters.

same reason we call a time out before halftime, only to run out the clock on the next play.

even the broadcasters were like WTF??? If your gonna let the clock run out why take the timeout in the first place. Singletarty is a class a buffoon when it comes to coaching. He might be a nice guy and a class act but when it comes to winning football games which he is paid to do he fails miserably.

What if the run would have gotten yards? A big play? It was pretty obvious what they were trying to do there, catch the D off guard thinking they were going to throw down the field being where they were on the field and how little time was left. Remember Westbrook had just gotten 11 yards on the previous carry/play. It didn't work so they didn't chance giving GB the ball back with any time on the clock. If they throw it incomplete it would have been 3rd and long at their own thirty with THE CLOCK STOPPED, very likely that GB gets the ball back. If they were around midfield that would be a different story, but not deep in your own territory.

You can fault them for the play call on first down after the first timeout, but not for letting the clock run out when it didn't work, considering where they were and the odds that GB would get the ball back in good field position and possibly score again. NFL coaches do that before the half every Sunday.
In case you don't want to believe it, but the Niners still are in the playoff hunt and haven't given up the season, so there is no need to put in developmental QBs like Nate Davis. Troy Smith had one great game and a bunch of mediocre games. His passes don't look crisp or accurate and he doesn't seem comfortable in the pocket. I'm not sure he gives the Niners the best chance to win.

A lot of Niner fans may have given up on the season, but the Niners haven't, because they aren't quitters.

Game experience and letting him develop so we have a better backup next year
I would go back with Alex Smith! The only problem is the personnel and the conservative play calling!!!

plus no work ethic, if Alex starts sunday
Forget who is quarterback. The offense needs to run off the field and into the locker room after scoring on the first possession, and then run back onto the field as if they are starting the game again.

Repeat this process ten times, and we may have a winner.

THe point of going back to alex is playoff run.

Amazing how we've gone from a team that can't start to a team that can't finish.

And our other QB has 3 wins against high school caliber teams.

Don't worry our coaching staff will keep our team from coming close to the play-offs despite the ease of it this season.
