Wow! This is exactly the type of thinking that got us to where we are.

If he's a #1 pick, he should perform like a #1. They're supposed to be ready to bring it. The later rounds are for more developmental players that take more time to develop. So if anything, a #1 pick should have a shorter leash... if only so you can recover from the bad decision, wasted resources, salvage what you can and move on.
