49ers players bag on coaching staff

49ers coach Mike Singletary has yet to exterminate the “rat” in the building.

More than two months after anonymous 49ers sources criticized the team’s coaching staff in a “dad-gum Yahoo commericial,” players are speaking out again — this time to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle.

One “experienced” player says the 49ers don’t make adjustments like other teams. One said that his family knows what play the 49ers will run in a given situation. A former 49ers player said “there’s no backup plan” when things don’t go well.

Yikes. The latest criticism comes after the 49ers were badly out-coached in a 21-0 loss to the Bucs.

“Once teams know what the 49ers want to do with the ball, their defenses adjust and the 49ers typically struggle to make their own necessary counterchanges, several players said this week,” White writes.

No matter what you think of anonymous sources killing the team’s coaching staff, articles like this will not help Singletary’s chances of outlasting the rats.

Not true. There are at least 3 coaches I'd keep. But whatevs.

Yeh at this point it is a no win situation. The fans have no faith in the staff,the league looks at us like a joke,players (MIGHT) be viewing the staff that way. I think M. Johnson has potential, Manusky should be retained as defensive coach. If Sing does get fired and they bring in someone else essentially everything gets blown up for lack of a better term. Offense needs a overhaul, but what with the defense. Does the new coach switch us to a 4-3 whcih we do not have the players for? We've been running the 3-4 for 6 yrs now. Its like starting over again and that sucks. I dont care who the coach is if the QB and offensive line arent playing well in tandom we are gonna suck.

We don't have the personnel to run a 43? Really? We don't have the personnel to run a 34-either. #52 was a 43 MLB, LB Manny Lawson was a 43 DE justin Smith was a 43 DE Ray Mac came from a 43 our NT are one gap penetraters more suited to play DT. Running a 43 just might be what the doctor ordered.

Pete Hoener and Tom Rathman are both coaches that belong on staff as well.

Pete Hoener and Tom Rathman are both coaches that belong on staff as well.

I think we need a 100% fresh start

When you work hard as a player but have no coaching direction and on top of that you are thrown under the bus, you will speak up. It actually upsets me that players have not been more vocal about the coaching inefficiencies, after all it is pretty obvious.

Agreed. Not a big fan of Sullivan at the moment. For all the supposed respect that he commands around the league, he hasn't accomplished much during his time here.

The only coaches worth keeping are Hoener and Tomsula.

Egos are powerful forces. Look on this board where posters rarely admit they are wrong.

In the case of Jed, he will be reluctant to admit that he and his Dad have been terribly wrong the last nine years: Donahue, Erickson, Nolan and now Singletary. That is a pretty impressive record of cluelessness.
