weird formation

what was up with this

oopty oop!
Its called trying o isolate crabs for a for sure 1on 1. troy never looked the other direction.
kinda strange for our brick and mortar offense to be whipping something out like this
They ran a similar formation in the 1st qtr. About the 7:25 mark. The play looked to be for Crabtree to get a quick slant, just like in this play. Troy tripped over the O-lineman's foot and took a sack.
Trips formation with Vernon Davis and Nate Byham lined up as wide receivers.

On a third and five, Johnson probably wanted to put his 22 personnel package on the field but mix up the formation to provide mismatches.

Dang troy had byham wide open with nothing but green in front off him right in the middle of the field!!!!

Not really. The guy covering Byham simply cut off his route once the pass was thrown.

bam! there ya go
I hope we see that again.

VD did a lazy decoy route and went inside.

But...if he broke outside (to his left) there was a ton of real estate and the LB was in a trailing position while the other routes took the safeties and CBs to the opposite side of the field.

Great formation, we had a man wide open on the other side of the field... Poor judgement on Smiths part.
