Playcalling is still average at best. I think Troy would have been better if the play calling was better.
Sing is still our coach.

I'll admit I supported Singletary a lot longer than most; I'd say I was fed up with him by the Falcons game..I honestly havent felt this apathetic about a victory in a while..dont get me wrong, I always want us to win, but we didnt deserve to win this game IMO.
Troy smith played well and I just dont understand why we tanked it on the last series and trusted our D to win us the game. When we got the ball I thought to myself "please dont run it up the middle 3 times & punt"...whatya know. Sing doesnt know how to use his weapons, any smart coach would have let Troy use his legs at least ONCE on that final drive. such a loser mentality we have permeating this time right now, it's not fair to the fans. sigh guess we'll have to wait 10 more weeks

Does anybody know why the secondary coach had will james covering Brandon Lloyd (one of the best receivers in the game this season) instead of Clements or Spencer?
Aren't we paying clements to be our shut down corner? was he hurt? Has anybody heard why we did this?

5. Lawson needs a contract extension.
6. the refs and their bulls**t QB protection calls were pissing me off.
7. If we don't draft 3 corners next year, then we will see this shame s**t on the field again.
8. Manusky needs to be fired now.
But no I agree

On initial viewing-
Troy Smith didn't look all pro, but he looked infinitely more poised in the pocket, and aware of impending pressure than we've seen in quite some time. I dont believe he even took a sack today. His biggest play of the day was filled with luck (and a good jump ball catch by Walker), but its definitely nice to see a quarterback give his WR an opportunity to make a play. With two weeks working with the first team, I think he can have an even better showing.
Frank Gore ran hard, and made a few plays even when there wasn't any room. He can still make his cuts as good as any back in the business, and he made some nice pass protection blocks today.
O-line was definitely inconsistent, but made enough plays to enable Gore to rush for over 100 yards, and Troy Smith decent enough time in the pocket. Iupati is still not getting that dominant explosive push that I expected him to get, but he's still young, and can still get stronger in the off-season. No false start or holding Penalties for Anthony Davis all day which is a plus (unless I missed it).
Playcalling was understandably conservative for a third string QB, definitely did not dominate running the ball as much as Oakland did, but were able to get first downs for the most part when they needed to.
Defensively Patrick Willis played like a Pro bowler today....our pass rush was there all day, however there were waaay too many Orton escapes (and a couple bulls**t personal foul calls by the refs).
Mays definitely had a rough game, and contributed to making Lloyd look like a Hall of Famer, but at the end of the day, the cornerbacks made plays when they had to.
This game confirms my belief that once our offense gets going during this 2 weeks off, we are going to shock the league in the second half of the season. Go Niners!

I think the plan was to have Clements cover the slot receiver in those types of formations. Not sure about Spencer. Maybe they had him on Royal?

Because Clements is not good.
No name Gettis from the Panthers nearly broke Clements ankles with the same double move Clements also fell for in Seattle. lol

Good.
Troy Smith made some nice plays, and most importantly no mistakes.
Gore beasted
Manny Lawson needs to stay on our team, but unfortunately he won't
Pass rush was good for a change.
Bad.
Secondary is horrible. When Sing leaves he should just take Goldson with him because that guy tackles like my little sister.
Playcalling. Running the ball is okay, but dammit there are more places to go but straight up the middle. We went up the middle 3 times in a row at least 2-3 times in the game, that is just stupid.
Sing hasn't been fired yet.

Amazing how much Brandon Lloyd has improved. Have to give credit when it's due.
Great game by Gore, decent job by Troy Smith. Great games from Brooks, Lawson, J.Smith and Willis on D. The secondary got torched.
