This is from Johnson's perspective and his experience. I'm sure it's more complicated in Indy.
Now, if you want to say Johnson's experience is enough to point to complicated calls, then isn't that on the QB as well?

Reason for the sh*tty o-line play?

In the article on the front page about getting gore rest, i saw this quote and immediately thought, maybe just maybe, this could be the reason we can barely or pass protect.
Thoughts?
Funny I thought the same thing, Alex is setting the protection, pretty standard, the center makes some calls as well I would assume. Alex seems to read blitz pretty well, some of his best picks are intended for the right guy in response to the blitz, you'd think he would do a better job of setting his protection. As always with Alex tantalizing close to good enough!
Think about it, Alex:
1) see the blitz pre snap and sets protection
2) Alex correctly identifies the soon to be uncovered receiver
3) Alex forces or over throws the correct receiver!
4) Defense gets a tipped ball interception
We fans blame the receivers and the O-line, but who made the call?

All these high draft picks and they still suck that's really sad.

Well by your scenario Alex would have set the correct protections as well as identified the correct WR to throw to. So the blame would fall on the WR for not catching the ball.

Okay I saw this also. Why in gods green earth would a semi one dimensional offense with a struggling Qb and a shuffled young line make it that complicated?
"It’s complicated, Johnson said."
This to me brings to light one if not the biggest problem that the o-line and Qb are having.
"Westbrook is a bright player (his former coach, Andy Reid, recently called him “the smartest players I’ve ever coached”) and is in his ninth NFL season." but according to Johnson because of all the redirecting and complication of it all Westbrook still needs time to learn the blitz and blocking pickups. Sounds to me like the scheme is tying the hands of many players.

Sure I do, I also think Alex's lack of touch on those plays is partly to blame! It makes me crazy, Alex is soooo almost good, but NOT! I totally get why so many people still have hope, me I'm just done!

I firmly believe (doesn't make it true) that we could actually have a dominate Oline, but our lame ass scheme and redundant play calling is crippling our guys. Funny how guys like Harvey Dahl and Kosier suck until they leave the Niners.

The OLine needs to play together for a while before it becomes a cohesive unit. To expect two rookies, a second year player and a new center to be cohesive in the first few games of the season is unreasonable. If they don't improve throughout the year, then you can throw tomatoes! Many people, including Singletary, set rediculous goals for the line and then Heitmann was injured. So, as painful as it is, we are stuck rooting for a "rebuilt" team this year.

We don't pose a threat through the air, so any D can devote more men to attack, making it look like it's 11 on 12. With an inexperienced line and Chilo Rachal, it's not a good situation.

Because the 49ers have the youngest OL in the NFL. Average age is about 23 or so..

Staley: 26
Iupati: 23
Baas: 29
Rachal: 24
Davis: 21
That's a damn young line.

They're not good. Majority are back ups. On a good team, neither Bass, Staley, Richal would start. Staley has been a major disappointment, and some how he is consider the best we have? Davis is raw, so I'll cut him some slack. Iuapti has had his share of struggles, but even know he looks better than the rest and the one with the biggest upside.

I agree, Staley is a bit overrated, but hes better than what we had in recent years.....OK actually Barry Sims did better when he was given a chance at LT last year.
