Patrick Willis? Frank Gore? Andy Lee?
I am just curious to know if anyone would start on presumably our best team of all time....

I'd take VD, just for the potential. B Jones was more fluid running routes and he had those sweet hands. But VD will spread defenses with his speed.
Also, Clements (in his prime), I'd take over Polard...

If the players that we have now on our team were coached by the coaches of the 89 team then I would say that a quite a few of our current players could have started in 89. We do have a lot of talented players on our team right now, but their full potential probably is not being reached due to the quality or lack thereof of the coaching. However, I'm sure that your question didn't imply that our current players would have the 89 coaches available to them. So I would say Willis, Davis, Lee, Justin Smith, and maybe gore and spencer. If the 2010 niners were coached by the 89 staff then I think players such as Lawson, Crabtree, and Ahmad Brooks could have possibly started on that team because of their great talent.

Willis and VD. They'd be freaks on that team. Great coaching offensively and defensively. Vernon would have an amazing year.

Jones would be my choice. He was a slightly above average blocker but wasn't required to block much due to the strength of the OL. Where he really excelled was in reading defenses and making route adjustments. He always seemed to find an open spot at just the right moment and that made that offense very potent, especially against blitzes.
Lots of folks here are enamored with Davis speed but his lack of agility, average hands and lack of ability to read defenses would make him second string to Jones.
