I'm okay with those deep ball INTs, to be honest. At least he was throwing it deep for a change.
Still, it might have helped if Ginn had at least turned around to track the ball on that play.

Alex is by no means the best or the worst QB in the league. Look at the team as a whole. Last two games, first drive and the team scores on scripted plays. That means the team is prepared for the first drive, then after that it all falls apart. IMO the coaching staff and the players are not on the same page if any page for the rest of the game. What exactly does Sing do? He's never been a def coordinator. He's not a game strategist. I think the whole coaching staff isn't cohesive and working together to prepare the team and so it looks like many separate parts but not a whole team and there is no one person who knows how to rein it all in. Maybe Smith just needs to play angry all the time like TO.And hang on to the ball.
Luckily for the D the A Smith/Singletary turmoil puts them out of the spotlight for now, but when did they forget how to tackle? McCoy is a good back but even with his broken ribs they made him look like Barry Sanders.

Kolb played a great game, he scrambled and was able to pass the ball all over the defense,,,, at no point in the game I felt like we could stop the Eagles. Alex Smith isnt the only problem....

Who was the last pick on? The oline? Alex saw the pressure and threw it. It was third down, he could have taken the sack and given the team another chance.
The impact of the first pick was that we didn't score and we lost by three.

We lost by 3 points and he get up a fumble for touchdown. He screwed up by play all by himself.
Did you see Vernon slip and fall on the hook route, or were your eyes closed and simply listening to Collinsworth's endless stream of sweet nothings?
Come on man, two picks and the fumble, Alex may not be THE problem, but he turns the ball over way too often for this team to win.
Alex does turn the ball over more often than the others but he is the one person who touches the ball every play. If the line does not block (Rachal) then he is scrambling. If the players don't catch the ball it is always on Alex. This forum is so opinionated that they don't look at the facts. We were gaining 2.2 yards/carry to Philly 4.5. Why are we not looking at that?
Alex did not make that throw to VD because VD was on the ground when he was looking to throw the ball. The deep ball was picked off because all Ginn can do is run really fast but he never made an adjustment to the ball, but the defender did! Then there is the fact that Sing is saying "I don't want to impose my will on the guys", but he is doing just that to Johnson. I don't think I could have been more pissed off by seeing Gore running into a line that cannot get any push. Sing needs to take the handcuffs off of his offense and go to a spread so that we can at the very least win a few games.
So for everyone that wants to blame
everything on Alex start looking at tape and make a logical argument instead of just looking at the QB. He is not THE problem, Sing is!!!

It's the whole team. The defense gave up a 3rd and ~20 run by Kolb? come on. The coaches insist on running it up the middle with the defense schemed to stop it. Smith fumbles and throws a couple of lousy picks. A Davis false starts at HOME?!?!

That's rarity isn't it? Smith turning the ball over this season, isn't.

Just to put it out there. I have been a supporter of Alex since he got here, but the wheels are coming off this season and every game this year he is not protecting the ball.
I understand we have issues beyond Alex, the line, the D and the coach, but I'm not willing to overlook his issues.

That just tells me that Alex can only perform well if the entire game is scripted. Don't correlate the team not being prepared after that first drive to the coaching not having planned well. I'm sure Johnson calls plays with receivers open but since it isn't scripted and memorized, Alex cannot perform as well.

to me alex is not the problem, the coaches need to be aggressive, is how he best plays and when the team feels confident we play really well...
there is no doubt alex has turn into one of the leaders of the team and all the players know he gives them the best chance to succeed, I am really amazed of the leadership cuallities vernon has shown and I only hope that this all works out so that this season is not a waste....

What's the impact of Gore's fumbles? Or the defense not sacking Kolb and allowing that TD to Celek? Manny left his feet way too early trying to dive at Kolb, instead of getting his hands on him first.

Also the two Ints, especially the last one was a game ender.
