The thing that bothers me about Smith's INTs is that he's not taking shots down the field. He's being a p***y and checking it down almost all the time, and STILL throwing picks left and right. Thats something to be worried about.
I'm having trouble with the point, no other QB on the roster is more talented than Smith. Who cares? In my eyes in close games you need to take points instead of turning the ball over. This dude is nearly averaging 2 INTS a game. At this point I would rather see less talent, than shooting ourselves in the foot every week.
Whoever the QB doesn't have to be great, they just need to sustain drives.

I do not want to sound like a broken record, but games are won by an absence of mistakes. The teams that make too many mistakes, no matter their talent, usually loses. Bill Walsh understood that, and selected players who were smart enough to know the importance of not doing something stupid.
How much of the 49ers' problem with mistakes is due to coaching and how much to stupid players is uncertain.

we won't win with smith neither carr or the other guy form baltimore
one of the problems is our coach wouldn't even let our best "armed" QB play in a game even at 0-15 to see what he really got in real game (but then meaningless) situation
At least the chargers identified quite quickly that Leaf was a bust
We're not so aware over here (and we signed carr for god's sake)

Alex would not be starting for Walsh.... especially at 0-4

I agree, if alex has a terrible first half tonight, he should get benched, at that point the 10% faith i have in him will be reduced to zero, carr couldnt do much worse, could he?

Dont you guys worry, the fans at the stick will make this decision for our stubborn coach. The boo's have been getting louder, and Alex Smith is not a popular name in this park. As a matter of fact he is less popular at the stick, than he is in the zone. Listen for it tonight, as he will screw up with this Philly pass rush.

let me know if I forgot anyone else...
Doesn't it make sense to bench a starter for at least a quarter or a half, like Tenneesee did with Vince Young. They gave Vince his starting position back the next week, but it also sent the message that you need to preform at a certain level. This is the NFL. Campbell got benched and even the Raiders went with a QB that helps them move the ball. Whinenhunt had the balls to pull Anderson from the game to put in a nobody at QB, but he did it to send a message.
I'm tired of the excuse, do you really think Carr is better than Smith? He doesn't have to be physically better, he just has to make less mistakes. I'm still hoping we can run off 4 or 5 of the next six against less talented opponets, but we can't if we keep killing ourselves. We were 10 seconds away from being 2-2 with less than average QB play, I wonder what we can be with just average QB play.
Lastly in the words of one Michael Singletary, "Don't Tell me, Show Me"
I know Carr might not be as good, but as soon Alex throws 2 more INTs in a game i would like to see him benched to send the message, you can't turn the ball over 2+ times a game week in and week out. Let Carr play a quarter just so Alex sees what it looks like to take care of the ball.

At this point in time it doesn't matter anymore. If Smith is to get benched, I don't want to see him back out there ever again.

I am okay with the benching... as long as they don't put him back in!

that's what I'm trying to do tonight. The coach is so weak I think it will work too.

I'm estimating here but I'm going to guess that out of everyone on here 10% are die hard fans & will cheer if 16-0 or 0-16 & the other 90% are a bunch of b***hes. And that's being generous. I love my 49ers win or lose.....But I'm also a pirates fan so I don't jump ship like most ppl. I know there are true fans out there but it's frustrating to read the whining & crying every week. 8-8 last yr & everyone expects a 14-2 season this yr? I don't get it.
