Rat or no rat, mole or no mole, who cares? This team is in disarray. I could've told you it was disorganized from my couch. I'll trust a "supposed" former player who wants to stay anonymous to protect his reputation than the bull s**t that spills out of the mouths of our coaching staff and front office.
I'm too young to know what it's like for this team to win, but at least when Nolan was Coach we could blame it on a lack of talent. I don't know whether I'm more disappointed or embarrassed.
I know it's just football, but my Grandpa watched games at Kezar, my dad at the 'stick. It means a lot to me, and it means a lot to us as fans. We're 0-3, staring 0-5 in the face. I'd almost rather we lost more so that we can fire our motivational speaker of a head "coach." But watch, these players will play in spite of the poor coaching and win 4 or 5 of the last 8. Keeping Singletary at the helm. f**k that. I'm tired of hearing about our winning tradition, tradition is defined as the passing of customs and practices from one generation to the next, so no. It's not a winning tradition. It's a long lost bit of history that broadcasters like to discuss before our games so it seems like we have a chance to win and the fans who don't know better won't change the channel.
I just want to win.

A former 49ers player under Singletary told me that it was the most unorganized team he has ever been around -- including high school.
He said that Singletary and his staff would often wing it when it came to game plans on Sundays.

Tell you what. Being in the ministry has allowed me to see plenty of cover ups, smoke & mirrors and what not.
I'm not saying they are hiding anything. However, a lot of times when people react to the "rat" it's because it's true. Most of the time, if the issue is shrugged off and ignored, it's because it isn't legitimate and is of no real threat to the team. However, when ever this issue is taken head on...usually it's because someone is afraid of getting exposed. I would rather people respect me, than fear me. We are trying to make people fear us, "dont mess with us" "we're going to hit you in the mouth" "real men say it to your face"
seems to me we are losing grip. I hope not. I really like singletary, and I want him to be a great coach for us. These little sharades though are a bit ridiculous.

Yep, not that surprising. I got that sense of the coaching staff just by listening to Singletary's pressers. He rarely says anything of substance when trying to explain what's wrong with the team. When pressed for answers he goes to his bag of cliches and canned responses:
"I have to look at the game film first..."
"We'll continue to work on those things, moving forward..."
and my favorite:
"We'll [do something] and just go from there..."
Just go from there? To me, that sounds like someone who's more REactive than PROactive. It reeks of a coaching staff that is extremely unorganized, underpreparred, and poorly equipped to make adjustments...

We don't need unnamed sources to tell us what we see with our own eyes every Sunday. And this is not just a Singletary thing. We haven't had a coach that prepares for a game since Mariucci. All of York hires have been unqualified and way over their heads.
I actually think that Dennis Ericson did prepare for games in terms of developing a game plan, but he didn't really have much talent to work with, and was not a great disciplinarian.
Look, there's no doubt that Singletary is a disaster of a head coach and is in way over his head. But the fact remains that when things are going bad, everyone jumps win with their take, and whoever this "unnamed source" is, I find it hard to believe that the Niners are more disorganized than a high school football team. It would be impossible to win 8 games in the NFL with your team in that poor a state.
The issue is not simply that they don't have a game plan, but rather that their game plan is awful and very predictable. As someone here wrote, the issue with Raye (and responsibility for Raye ultimately falls on Singletary) is that his plays were very predictable based on the formations he ran. In any case, I simply don't see how we can possibly improve with Singletary at the helm. I just don't see it. The guy does not know football. And I cannot think of a single successful NFL team that doesn't have a head coach with at least a basic understanding of X's and O's.
Let me give you two examples of how a team was prepared and the other unprepared.
Week 1 at Seattle. You will not find any reasonable observer that will say Seahawks are more talented than the 49ers. But Seahawks knew full well Niner DBs bite on double moves. They scored two touchdowns off of that. They knew full well if you stop Gore the 49er offense becomes a joke. Result: 6 points for the offense. Did the 49ers do anything? Did the 49ers plan to attack any points of weakness of the Seahawks? No, they just showed up and did the same sh*t they always do. Gore up the middle and no plan to adjust on defense.
Week 3 at Kansas City. Again, no one will dispute the 49ers are the superior team talent wise. How did the Chiefs dominate? They knew full well the 49ers are awful against screen passes, delay runs, and wheel routes. They pretty much made a living off of that. And that was an offense that was at bottom of the league. Again. Did the 49ers plan for that? Did they adjust for that during the game?
In the NFL it's not just talent that wins. What you do between Wednesday and Sunday is just as critical. Teams of 80's and 90's didn't just show and win with talent. They were more prepared. They were up 21-0 coming out of the locker room. Now they just show up and hope for the best.
Great Post, our team in a nutshell.
Second that......

I agree with week one but not week three. Blaming the defense? Jesus, how many games have Manusky and the defense single handedly won for us the past few seasons? I'm not about to write them off after one bad game. Offense though is a different story.
