Quite frankly I am sick of observing Alex smith as it is not enjoyable. He IS a coach killer and he makes wideouts have zero value. Experiment complete.

This whole debate is absolutely pointless. We have way bigger fish to fry than Alex Smith. Hes done. It's over. He's damaged goods. Time to figure out WTF we are going to do this off season.

He sucks, as for the Philly game, I would say we should throw in more Spread, its the only way Alex can look like a kinda mediocre QB and even that is a stretch

He looks amazing out of a spread and everyone is catching the ball. Smiths problem is when sht breaks down and someone runs the wrong route or whatever. Then he implodes. All QBs are "rhythm QBs" to an extent but Smith just takes it to an unreasonable level.
It just doesn't work in the NFL. I applaud his efforts and he's def a hard working guy no denying that but his style of play doesn't cut it. Plain and simple. And I blame that on his development.

It's like there's a jinx within football broadcasting. The more you stop to appreciate a player he starts f**king up, and when you talk about his 'situational' shortcomings throughout a game he starts throwing touchdowns.
So, it's the announcer's fault now?

The sad truth about Alex Smith that Jerry, Steve, and many other critics pointed out was that Alex was nothing more than a gimmick QB coming out of Utah. Smith came out of an offensive system under Urban Meyer that wouldn't cut it one day in the NFL. (Take a look at Tim Tebow, another Urban Meyer QB that isn't even cutting it as a #2 QB right now.)
Alex was in an offense built off of intangible appendages, i.e. Smith was never meant to be in a situation where the game was on his shoulders, cause Urban Meyer surrounded Smith with (recruited) talent to run a multi-dimensional spread scheme built off of trick plays, scrambles, draws, and screens (no down-field aggressiveness).
After this season Alex should retire from the NFL and get into his true 'possible' calling, which is either fiances or NFL coaching.
Nah I'd rather him be traded to another team and fail there. Then maybe all these Smith lovers would finally see what we are seeing.
In fact one of the BIGGEST 'red lights' that went off started with the fact that many draft experts considered Alex Smith to be a 'project' with long-term upside (that needed to ride a bench for 2-3 years to develop), same deal with Jason Campbell; the only projected NFL-ready QB to come out of that 2005 draft was Aaron Rodgers.
And What happens? Alex was drafted 1st overall by a defensive-minded rookie coach to a team full of ex-Ravens coaches/players that wanted to be built in the image of the Brian Billick Ravens (where a QB wasn't the most important position on the offense).

20 years from now they will make "Rudy the second coming" starring Alex Smith:
A story about a QB who had everything going against him and ended up as the token QB and still failed.

And if Alex Smith doesn't "destroy" Philly??? what then will have to say?? "defense sucked?" "OL didn't give him enough time?" "receivers not getting open?" I can see why 49er fans made up "Alexcuses"
If you boy throws 2INTs 0TDs. Can't say anything more but blame the QB. Oh almost forgot our "offense scheme?" "SING?"
But if he does good he better go on a streak and win the next 4 games. Then I will have some sorda confidence in him.
