As we all know, we're a "run first" team. Yesterday's game is proof to those in charge that we can run the ball so long we "execute." So, how will the coaching staff respond verses K.C.? Do more of the same? If so, how do you feel about that?

If we are able to run and be successful that makes Alex Smiths job a lot easier.

I think we can run against KC and as long as we don't give up any big plays on special teams we should win

Thats 3 years from now. Anthony Dixon will be ready by then
Seriously though, in order for us to be successful we have to be able to run the ball and be balanced. We cant lean one way or the other(too much passing or too much running)
Balance is the key for our offense but it all starts with the running game

I think we will be working Dixon in more and more as the season progresses. Not that he is as good as Gore, but we need to keep him fresh.

i would like to see a similar gameplan about 30 passes and around 20 runs in the game

Well, we do lean one way or the other. Most of Gore's carries were up the middle. He also was the check down receiver when Smith couldn't find any one open - designed or not. This is Jimmy's offense.

They were saying that at his combine and it keeps turning out to be nothing terminal.
At any rate, what has the past decade of football taught us? Good running backs are a dime a dozen and excellent ones aren't especially rare. Moreover, there's a crop of freaks like Gore, Portis, Westbrook, etc. that seem to live charmed lives.
Keep rolling the bones, I say.

I agree with Val, we need to run the ball to open up the pass lanes for Alex. There was a very good balance in the NO game, although I agree we need to be careful with Gore and mix in Dix and Westbrook for a change of pace.

I agree, AZ. Not sure how Mr. Gore will react to that, though.
As for Westbrook, I'd like to know what the state of his hamstring really is. I have a growing suspicion that Raye might be pulling the same stunt that NO pulled with Bush last year. The old ace up the sleeve trick.

First, Frank is paid good money to run the rock. This is the NFL and we all know these backs don't last too long; therefore, we need to milk it as much as possible before the inevitable occurs.
Secondly, I could see resting the tank if we were like the Colts last year when they were 14-0, but we are 0-2 and our season is now, not in the future. We need to throw our best out there and go all out for this win. This game might not be a make it or break it game due to the weak division we are in, but it gets harder and harder to dig your way out of that hole the deeper you are in it. Therefore, release the Cracken!!
