0-2...so what.

LETS GO 49ERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alex threw two picks. Gore was wide open, and Alex threw a bad pass which ended up being tipped. The second pick was tipped again, and that is Alex's fault for not throwing it over the defender.

you dont know football..

tipped passes are the main cause for an INT NOT the QBs fault.. If Gore doesnt throw one hand out and tips it, at worse its INC. the second was a designed run play and u can tell Alex audibled which was surprising and the defense just made a good play and threw the hand up and it was picked.. Alex played great, just like he ALWAYS does when the coaches let him play and give him plays to work with..

he put us in a bad position with his interception in the first quarter...that was on him and not on gore.

he killed another drive by throwing it low, yes i kno it got knocked up in the air, but sheeesh, that was a total game killer right there.

ultimately the muffed punt killed us, but imagine wut the score would be minus those interceptions.
CONSISTENCY He sucked game One and did very well tonight. Let's see if he can keep it up. There are a lot of QB's in the league that can be brilliant off and on but not consistently.

So far, he has reminded me of one Tim Rattay. Can be brilliant and lead the team to a score and then throws a few picks and lets the other team back in the game.

Also most of them can be very good at HOME but do poorly away from home.

Let's see what happens after a few games!

You honestly think we lost because of him?

No wonder he's hella successful.
We will see how he follows this up and how he does the rest of the season. I feel bad because I know Alex is a great person and he works hard and has heart but things haven't worked out for him so far. There has always been something to hinder him. Every once in a while (AZ MNF 07, DEN 07, SEA 08.. tonight) and a few other games where you see what he can do but things just never seem to go his way. Don't get me wrong though he is his own worst enemy at times.

After this year part of me wants to say move on... just not sure he can take us to where we want to go but the other part says there will be no good vet QBs available and I don't want to draft another QB and have to start all over. Plus... I am gun shy about drafting another QB in round 1 but if you put a player in a position to succeed he should be able to. We didn't do that with Alex for just about every year since we drafted him.
I hope this start talking extension tomorrow.

True..... Alex thinks he can simply laser beam everything and a lot of times those balls get batted down or up and get intercepted. Young and Montana threw some of the prettiest touch passes ever. Wish Alex could.

That play was a slant.... Crabs was wide open, and it was a good throw. The LB just made a great play. I do agree that Smith has a tendency to throw lasers... then again he had some really nice touch passes to backs and tight ends tonight.

He looked fantastic on 2 drives, awful on the first INT, mediocre the rest of the game.
Alex Smith played the game of his life.

He put the team on his back and drove us down the field, under two minutes, with no timeouts.

He had one bad pass to Gore intercepted, and one bad luck throw intercepted.

He's got to look this good consistently, but anyone saying he doesn't have it in him didn't watch the game tonight.

Bingo... it's crazy how few good QBs there are out there. Once you get one you lock them up for life so not many become available. The draft is a crap shoot and will probably get worse with all these option QBs and spread QBs.
He outplayed Brees but Brees got the ball last.
