The Minnesota loss took a lot of the wind out of our sails last year. Patrick Willis even admitted that last year. Do you think that this loss will take the wind out of our sails again? Or do you think it will "motivate" us and make us play better?
Personally, I don't care how close we were to beating the Saints. We have proven that we are not ready to make the NEXT STEP and be a good team. This game was in our hands and we did not take advantage of it.

Oh don't say that. Teams respond to wins/losses in so many different ways.
Eli Manning and the Giants' loss against the undefeated Patriots a few seasons ago was actually the one that really brought out Eli's confidence and it shone throughout the playoffs and SB that year.
For the 49ers in 94, it was Steve Young yelling at Seifert and crawling to the bench against the Eagles and Lions, for the time to rally behind him.
I was hoping Alex Smith leading the team to victory tonight would be some sort of defining moment for the team.
