I play and coach flag football and we run this formation a lot. But the main reason we run this formation is because the QB doesn't want to feel the center's a$$. LOL!

Chris Ault at Nevada came up with it, and it is way fun to watch. Nevada had 3 players rush for over 1000 yards last year. They also crushed cal last night. Not sure if it would work in the NFL tho.

Arkansas Razrbacks offense is majority Spread, but sometimes it appears they have a Spread/Pistol hybrid. It's fun to watch because it appears no one is allowed to rest.

People are saying the Niners should run the spread, but no NFL team has made the leap to the spread. I think the pistol, when more people see it will be the spread that makes the jump to the NFL. This thread, is not really catching on because not enough people have seen the pistol inaction, give it a few years and NT will catch up.

If it involves creativity and offense then you can count Jimmy Raye out. I am all for going to some form of the spread/pistol offense. Smith and Crabtree both came from a spread style offense. They excelled in this type of offense in college and last year when the offense was forced to open things up. I don't understand why the coaching staff doesn't see that our offense is built for an offense like this.

Hmm and those are the most successful offenses in the NFL just about every year.

No they spread out their receivers at times, they also favor to "bunch" formation to keep the db's getting a bump, but they do not use a spread attack consistently, we (the niners) do at times, look at last season when we were down against the Texans, but even still spread offense is short for spread option, EVERY team has a spread formation in it's play book, not the same thing.
