Not that I am anything great, but have had the blessing of many leadership titles in my business life. A terrific business book named, “Good to Great” speaks to a couple of things that makes a great leader and these are opportunities for the 9rs leadership to learn.
First and foremost: a leader, when times are tough, they look in the mirror at the problem. We lost because of Singletary first, then Alex; right or wrong. They are our team’s leader and this happened on their watch. When times are good, they look out of their window knowing that their success is the compellation of many good people in the right place, doing the right things at the right time.
For me, I am appalled and frustrated at how many of our “leaders” are blaming and pointing the finger. As a leader, when s**t goes bad, YOU alone take the bullet! When Alex overthrows our FB for a TD, a leader ALWAYS takes that hit. But instead, he throws his FB under the bus saying that he thought he wouldn’t turn around to catch the ball. How many f’n fullbacks can catch first, but are not going to turn around to make that catch? Nada…You want to be a leader, Alex? You want the locker room to love you, trust you, follow you, well, the buck stops with you. If it is NOT yours to own, you own the s**t anyway! Everything that happens badly out there is your fault. Everything good that happens out there is your team, not you.
Singletary, your job is to get the right people on the bus, in the right seats, going in the same direction. It makes no difference that you didn’t miss a tackle, or throw the picks, drop the ball etc, you are the leader and the leader mans up, owns it, and has urgency in finding a solution.
I believe we have a GREAT team and can win a bunch of games. I am a 9r fan through thick and thin – I am not bashing Smith, I think he is ready and will prove it to us. I admire Singletary and see him growing as a man and head coach - Excuse my ranting here…just had to share.

There's definitely plent of blame to go around for a blowout loss. And it's definitely in the game's nature to first scrutinize the starting QB's play, especially if he's supposed to be a "team captain", and he definitely didn't do himself any good by callin out other people.

They do have leadership. They emulate their coach like a rat in a sinking ship. King rat Sing. Most dependable f**kup in the organization save for the Yorks.

Good to Great one of my favorites... another one that I have on my bookshelf at my office is "Walk the Talk". Both speak to the heart of building something great. Ownership of everything that takes place within the organization. It does start at the top and I think unfortunately ownership has failed in this area miserably. SO it is with any organization s**t flows downhill. If there are problems at the top it will filter throughout the orginazation.
The Owner, The Coach and the QB. Look at great teams that have succeeded for a long time and you will see stability and most importantly LEADERSHIP in those three positions.
What is leadership? IMHO... Accountability and Action. Being responsible whether you are responsible or not and taking action to do what is neccasary for success.
