That's a nice reach back into Niner tradition. Letting Seifert go was when the first wheel came off the Niner express.
Of course -- Seifert inheirited a powerhouse of a team. That's one thing against him. He didn't build it. Walsh did.
The one thing he has going for him? He didn't allow it to fall apart. He kept it going. It didn't hurt one bit that he had the likes of Steve Young and Jerry Rice -- but he kept the express rolling for two more trophies and a near decade of NBW (nothing but wins).

Seifert was a DB coach. Maybe some pointers for Mays and the rest of the sorry a** DB plays we witnessed yesterday.

Let's not forget; Seifert was a BRILLIANT defensive coach who was also smart enough to hire an equivalent OC. I remember reading about times when Walsh or Shanahan or Holmgren would design a play and Seifert would step up and say, "that play is nonsense. Look how easy it would be to defeat it," and he would go on to show how he would do it. OTOH, he would also point out the weakness of defenses and where to attack them, and that was his greatest contribution to offense, as a defensive coach.
i don't think Singletary has that level of recognition of the Xs and Os of defense.

IMO, it's the offensive side of the ball we need help on, whether it's the playcalling or just "chemistry" with the players. Seifert is a defensive kind of guy...
I wonder why he's here?

I've been saying for a long time that they should bring him in in a Parcells role. George knows football.

Perhaps he's there to assist or give guidance to the coaches on how to be prepared with the game-calling logistics?!
