2013- CB/RS 35 Phillip Adams

now; 2012-2011 guys;

2012- ILB 56 Scott McKillop
2012- P 4 Andy Lee- Needs extension
2012- CB 36 Shawntae Spencer- Needs extension
2012- DE 90 Isaac Sopoaga- Possible cut

2011- RB 21 Frank Gore- Extend him NOW
2011- OT 75 Alex Boone- Signed, and have rights for a good length

2011- WR 84 Josh Morgan- Extend soon
2011- WR 17 Dominique Zeigler- Same as Boone
2011- QB 5 David Carr- Gone after 2011
2011- OG 68 Adam Snyder- Cut Him
2011- PK 6 Joe Nedney- Potential Keep till we find long term replacement
2011- RG 62 Chilo Rachal
2011- C 66 Eric Heitmann
2011- FB 44 Moran Norris- Gone after 2011

then our FA's after 2010:

Alex Smith, Troy Smith, Brian Westbrook, Diyral Briggs, Manny Lawson, Ray McDonald, Takeo Spikes, Dashon Goldson, Michael Lewis, Aubrayo Franklin, David Baas, Tony Wragge

So, I would keep the following if price is right.

Manny, Alex, Dashon or Franklin, Takeo and McDonald

Then draft a CB, OG/OT, C, DE, ILB, NT and maybe a OLB and S
can we sign alex, manny, goldson, and franklin and a 1st round pick with our salary cap?
I like spikes, If he stays productive and cheap I hope they re-sign him. He's getting old but he said he wants to play 2 more years.

we can i project between 43 and 51M in cap space for next season.

I figure 5M for Alex, 5M for Dashon, 7M for Aubrayo and 5M for Manny then another 6M for draftees

So thats 28M used, so its doable, then McDonald(1.5M), Spikes(3M), save $7M for emergencies during season.

That leaves 16.5M so we could sign a few FAs nothing big tho, i think we have learned it isnt a good idea to sign FAs to big deals.

Then we could extend Gore, Spencer and Smith if we wanted too with clever structuring.

So, I honestly dontt see all 4 making it next yr(Dashon, Manny, Aubrayo and Alex), 1 is gone IMO. Most likely is Aubrayo if RJF shows promise, if not then Dashon is gone.
If Alex Smith can lead the team to the playoffs, re-sign him. Anything less, give him the boot.
If Baas plays well at center, we need to re-sign him as well.
^^ how the hell do we always have so much cap room?

1. In an uncapped yr we should and have front loaded VD and Willis.

2. Good cap management, by not loading up on 1 yr, but spreading out over many seasons.

3. Having dummy years players wont see, Nate Clements comes to mind.

I've always wondered about those (extra) years. The agents don't mention anything, or is there enough contract jargon that it gets lost in there?

edit: by the way, great job on the numbers, always look forward to reading one of your topics.

thx nice knowing we have teh extra cash just in case and i agree we dont need to sign any big FA they usually doont work out to well in the end

I think we let Takeo walk and put Bowman in. Lawson/Alex Smith/ Franklin all raise interesting questions on whether we sign them or not. Lets hope they kick ass and earn a contract?

I think Dashon and McDonal are definite keepers, I feel pretty confident we can get them at an acceptable price tag

It is just like most reporting, it lacks substantive information and misleads its readers.

I would think there is little to no guaranteed money in those dummy years

4. 6 consecutive sub .500 seasons and one eight and eight.

how long would u extend Gore, we all now about running backs and age, but he's still fairly young and a fan favorite, what say you? 3 years maybe or would that be a slap in the face compared to 5 yr deals for willis and davis?
