Eh. The run defense looks pretty decent. top 10 so far. Who have they faced this year rb wise? I'm hoping that weak pass defense can be jacked up by Alex. He did put 275 on the Saints.

We aren't that far apart in comparison. 49ers need to come ready to play because you must give KC a nice advantage for being at home but not as much as SEA got because KC won't know our plays.

Yeah but you have to look at yards per play on that type of play. Alex hasn't doubled his yards per pass attempt, just that he's thrown more than Cassel. Either way, it does show we are a better passing team and equal to them in running, which is why they have the "weaker" offense. However, their Defense appears to be solid.

Note:
This doesn't include strength/style/personnel of opponent, which are valuable variables in these stats after only 2 games.

I'm just saying, so far, we aren't that far apart and this being on the road in a loud stadium will make it very difficult.

Apolgies. The rushing TDs should be reversed. The change was made in this quote.

mattbarrows Interesting: Greg Manusky says Parys Haralson and Manny Lawson, not Ahmad Brooks, would be emergency backups at ILB ... More familiar w/ D..
This is the exact same scenario as Week 1. Niners playing on the road against a beatable opponent in a hostile environment. Which team shows up? The Niners were horrible in week one and just good enough to beat themselves in week two. Let's hope a third version shows up..........the dominant running team with a good defense that plays mistake free football and wins.

Get the damn plays in on time and give Alex protection and we should win this one. I say 28-9, Niners.
SANTA CLARA -- Dexter McCluster's eyes lit up at the NFL scouting combine in February when he was asked about his former Ole Miss teammate Patrick Willis.

McCluster was a freshman when Willis was a highly regarded senior. There was one play from practice that McCluster remembered fondly. And he was eager to share the experience with the media that day.

"I still talk about it. Not to him. But I talk about it," McCluster said. "We were in the open field. He was pursuing me at an angle, I was running, and I did sort of a drop step and got underneath him and kind of made him look a little silly."

Willis said Thursday he does not remember that play from a long-forgotten practice during college.

"If you're a defensive player and playing football all your life and you've never been juked, something's wrong," said Willis, the 49ers' leading tackler.

"A lot has to do with being here four years. I don't remember us going 1-on-1 a lot."

But McCluster and Willis might see a little of each other on Sunday when the 49ers face the Kansas City Chiefs.

McCluster is a 5-foot-8, 170-pound rookie who has seen limited touches in the first two games on offense. He has two rushes for 3 yards, and he's caught two passes for 9 yards.

"We'll see this Sunday," Willis said. "It's us against them. It's not me and McCluster. It's about the 49ers and the Chiefs."

McCluster's main contribution has come on special teams, where he returned a punt 94 yards for a touchdown in the Chiefs' season-opening 21-14 victory over the San Diego Chargers.

Back in February, McCluster had no team and was trying to sell himself to the NFL. So when asked if he could make Willis look silly on the NFL level, he didn't back down. "I have a little more experience under my belt," McCluster said, "So I hope he's ready."
