If we were to cut Brian Jennings, would he get claimed?
My thinking is that Eric Heitman, Kyle Williams and Ahmed Brooks are all injured. They can't go on IR until AFTER the final cut-down, so maybe we cut someone like Jennings to keep some of the likely claims on the 53 man roster. Then after he clears, you bring him back and put some of the injured guys on IR.
I figure at 33 and a specialist besides, it's less likely anyone puts in a claim on him than someone like, say Diyral Briggs. Thoughts?

after the final cut down date, is when you can put players on IR.
So, if we wanted to IR someone injured, then we can at last cuts.
Most of these not ir'ing players is for younger guys.
And I doubt Jennings is cut, we signed him to a 5yr extension through 2014.

Only if you do it BEFORE the final cut-downs.
I figure there are two types of waiver-wire scanning going on. A rebuilding team may simply be looking for talent. These are the kind of teams that might be after a Briggs or a Boone. The other type has an injury at a position where they don't have good depth. This type of team is looking for a vet who can step in and perform, but not necessarily one who is a long term answer. Few teams have maneuvering room to just stockpile other teams' rejects, which is why you can often sneak guys through.
My thoughts about Jennings were he might be this type of guy who could sneak through. On the other hand, we get burned pretty badly if he's claimed. But it was an interesting idea to me, so I thought I'd share and see what people think.

I'm 99% sure that this is incorrect. Any player placed on IR is done for the season, regardless of when they are placed on IR.

Brian Jennings is one of the premier long snappers in the NFL. Anyone would like to get Jennings for their team. So the answer to your question is no.

He's a Pro Bowl talent. He'd get claimed instantly.

Jennings may not play on anything but special teams units, but you're selling him short on his contribution.
