you know its a run when....

you know it's a run when it is 1rst down. You know it's a run if the 1rst down run lost yards. You know it is a run if the runs on 1rst and 2nd down either lost yards or went for no gain.
In last year's context, you knew it was a run when our nastiest lead blocker came off the flank and set up on the line. Say what you will about that play, Morgan did some pretty awful things to more than a few linebackers when that play was run last year. Remember what Morgan did last year when he helped spring Gore for that massive run against the Vikes? Unfortunately, by mid-season its frequency and subsequent lack of production got to be like Siefert and the sweep.

As for the vanilla play calling, I have no problem with it. The staff if getting a feel for what our big new maulers are capable of doing, getting Dixon up to speed such that he'll be a useful part of the platoon, and working on the weakest aspect of or offense. Nothing wrong with any of that.

Last, considering that Raye reinvented our offense no less than three times last season, I'm a bit confused by the continuing accusations that he's a stubborn, one-dimensional old fart. For a guy that's too old to be effective, he did a pretty impressive job of installing and running a spread offense last season.

That being said, once our first two drives of the season go 3 and out with the usual Gore up the guts, I'll be first guy in line calling Raye an old stubborn, senile geezer.

It's preseason and 1st down is the best down to call a run. Get some good work in when your not looking for that conversion.

Leave the play calling b***hing for the regualr season.

Every time we run a FB dive on second and 11, I lose part of my soul.

Also, why is Moran Norris on this team?

Something I thought I'd never say, but I'm with Jimmy Raye.

Anybody who knows football (or has coached) should know well that an offensive coordinator doesn't pull out the advanced/expanded playbook until the second year of the system's cohesive offensive gel. Biggest reason the first year is vanilla is due to the QB's understanding of the playbook/audibles/protection schemes of that offense.

Raye doesn't come off as an inferior individual either, I've watched/read a lot of his interviews and he seems like a very meticulous/calculated coordinator who knows a lot of about football, but his demeanor is obviously set on the run, with 2 TE-sets. -But he isn't a stranger to opening things up.

People don't understand that last year we couldn't really open the offense up because we DID NOT have a stable slot receiver, no consistent speed threat what-so-ever (nor speed options).
It's FIRST DOWN!. I've never seen a coordinator so predictable on a certain down.
I hate that I was wishing we would stop doing that if us fans can pick up on that there isnt anyway the DCs of other teams wont

I would make a joke or comment about this, but as long as Gore is scoring TDs I don't think I care if he's catching it or running it...hehe

You know it's a run when....the 49ers offense is on the field
The qb is under center and the RB is in the back field and doesn't motion wide.
