That's a lot of stats that we are top 16 (top half) in the league in. Look at all the top 5's. Your probably saying what about the rest of them where we are below 16. Honestly, there are not that many. Major one is to cut down pass yards per game. (21st)

Edit: throwing out the penalties comment because I get 97 penalties total for 739 yards and not sure how many of them are defensively.

Not sure where NFL.com and ESPN.com are getting there info from.

that's true...i think the niners d was a top 5 even top 3 d last year....the only reason our pass d was 21st is because teams could not run on the niners d so they had to pass (it's like minn except we have a lot better defense after the dl

Niners were #1 fantasy D in all of football last year.

I think our pass defense will be much improved, and as a result, we'll be much better in each category statistically. We gave up a lot of first downs on long pass plays last year. Thinking about the Minnesota game and Indy game kills.

Passing numbers were skewed because teams always gave up on the run against us.

Yes but if we want to be a top defense we have to do what we do against the run against the pass. As awesome as it is to watch our run defense shut down offenses could you imagine our pass d doing that as well? Throw in all those turnovers and that would be something to see. Anyways, I would just be happy to take our 21st pass defense down to 12-15. Hopefully run defense goes from 6th to top 5 maybe top 3. I'm fine with 4th in points but obviously we could get better (45 to ATL, 30 to GB, etc).

W = that's all that matters!

As amped up as that got me, it equally depresses me that our O might not be quite there yet.....This is the year.

NFL network has been showing the fantasy rankings on the bottom scoreboard and they have our defense #8 above the Cowboys.

we definetely have a nice defenseive unit, let's hope they can build on their success last season and improve against the pass, that was our weakness last year

We had 1 shutout against the Rams 35-0. I seen one stat during the game that we where ranked high but I can't remember what it was.
