We really have a tough start to this season. The Saints and Falcons will probably beat us and we don't know what to expect from Philly. Alex has a tough road ahead of him and fans shouldn't jump ship if we lose a couple games to start the season. I would say by midseason if we don't have at least 5 wins, then there is a problem.
I have to agree here. I know that after a couple losses people will be calling for 11's head, but I think what you said here is the most logical and level-headed approach to our tough first half of the season. If we go 4-4 in our first 8 games, I think I'd be a little stressed but still confident we'd go ahead and do well to close out the year.
So if Alex can't handle tough games after five years in the league, when exactly will be able to handle them?
Good question. What I am wondering is how patient the coaching staff will be with Alex if he gets off to bad start, let alone the fans.
He's gotta start 2-2, 3-2 or better. Anything less is going to put the coaching staff in a bind.
Only way I see Alex starting after a 1-3 start would be if he's playing well but our defense collapses. It's gotta be something totally unrelated to Smith.
