That aside, (since it won't happen.), I hope Alex Smith proves me wrong and is a great QB, because I think even though he is a nice, smart kid.. He is just an average NFL QB.
**crosses fingers**
I was watching the Pats preseason game yesterday. Brady threw this beautiful pass from the 10-15 yard line to the endzone, just behind his receiver and defender....but so that only his receiver could make the catch. And all I could think about was how Alex Smith could not pull off that kind of pass.
Its amazing. The 49ers are actually a Superbowl contender if we had a legit QB. Imagine Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, or even Aaron Rodgers behind center. We'd probably be one of the top choices this year with Minn. and NO.
One player can make your team an instant pretender. It's a shame that a roster that boasts so much probowl talent (Willis, Gore, VD, and prob Crabtree) can barely crawl out of the worst division in the league.
Damn shame...............

Hall of Fame.
That's what it would take in the eyes of many 9er fans. They could care less about winning now. They want the man gone, even if it meant we would be on another 5 year track.
However, why is this even a thread now? Let's revisit this mid way through the season or even at the end of it.

The Falcons didn't look good defensively yesterday if that matters? The Patriots ran all over them last night which is sad.

The funny thing is that Alex has thrown those type of passes. I believe it was one of his first passes in the 2007 season. Could probably think of others but I have to go get some beer.

to be fair, there is only a few qbs that can throw that type of pass that you saw brady throw...peyton manning for one...and nate davis of course
actually alex smith has made those kind of throws...examples....vs colts he threaded that pass to crabtree between 3 defenders on the td drive right before end of 1st half....vs jags he put one to vernon davis right on target on 4th and 1 for a big play, then later hit crabtree in the end zone for a score, but for crabtree dropping it...the td pass to morgan along the sideline vs seahawks...
though not many here want to give smith credit for making these type of plays, he can...he needs to start doing so on a consistent basis...and i think he will with a better oline and more weapons like he has now

I believe he has. He actually gave up money to stay with the 9ers. I think 9er fans forget all the crap Alex Smith has been through. The kid has put up with a lot and has acted with nothin but class. Just thank the football Gods that we didn't get Oakland's QB.
