No explanation given for Glen Coffee's absence
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 13, 2010 1:25 PM ET
It may prove to be nothing, but the 49ers have another player whose status has suddenly proved difficult to pinpoint.
Second-year backup running back Glen Coffee was nowhere to be seen at Thursday afternoon's practice, and was missing again on Friday morning. Usually, that means an injury.
But Matt Maiocco of Comcast Bay Area says both the team and Coffee's agent has failed to provide any explanation for Coffee's whereabouts. "That doesn't sound good," Maiocco writes. (Must. Resist. Urge. To. Irresponsibly. Speculate.)
We'll let you know when we know more about the situation.

Now I am concerned.
Does anybody else see the resemblance between Michael Robinson and Meg from family guy? There is no evidence that would lead me to believe that coffee is better than robinson as a RB or special teamer. But yet, when I see Robinson getting carries I want to ask him, who let him touch the football in the offense?

I don't think that Coffee was going to be an integral part of the team this season. As long as Gore stays healthy, Gore will ask for as big of a role in the offense as he can - regardless of whether coaches feel that it's in his best interest to limit his carries (just IMO).

Yeah, but unfortunately Gore hasn't stayed healthy. The 9ers back-up RB is a pretty big position for us and Dixon seems way too raw.
Im gonna try to find the link but since Gore has become a starter only 2 RBs have more carries than him LT and Stephen Jackson.
This Gore isnt healthy s**t is stupid
out of the 80 possible games he could have played in his career he has played in 73 of them thats pretty damn good for someone playing most physically demanding position in football

If I remember correctly, Robinson has been the least used back. I bet they just want him to have some practice too.

i'm not questioning toughness or anything like that, but he has missed a couple games a season for the last two years and our back-ups haven't really been able to come in and produce.
The back-up RB role is big for us this year.

I just read that. Crazy. Too bad Blount changed his mind about the Niners. Doh... the RB depth is crap now.
