If anyone gets 10 sacks this year, I think it'll be Brooks. Manny should see plenty of playing time, but he's going to have to take a step back and allow time for Brooks to get on the field. Hopefully, Brooks alternates with Haralson and Manny to keep them all fresh.
For all the criticism Manny gets, Haralson slips through the cracks and barely gets any attention. Manny is more versatile than Parys, but Parys needs to start pulling his weight in the sack department. He gets credit for plenty of "pressures", but he needs step it up, IMO.

Here is the best the Niners and us fans can hope for:
- Lawson breaks out and plays lights out while trying to earn his next big payday either here or on the open market.
- Brooks also progresses and builds on the great run he put on at the end of the year.
- Haraylson gets over the hip flexor problem he had last year and has a strong season.
- Diryal Briggs gets better and gives the Niners the option of letting go of Lawson if they don't want to pay the price.
That would be ideal.

the dude oozes potential. Problem is he had that injury that set him back a year so technically last year should've been his breakout year?? Never happened. Sad. He's a great guy good energy, but damnit he has yet to put it together. Still waiting...sorry my friends but if he puts in another Lawson type year this will be his last yr here. BOOK IT!!

I think a 10+ sack total ought to do it.

he's average. the only other teams that know of him are the teams in the NFC West.

A four way tie of nine sacks each would raise a smile. Sacks by committee.

Mike Singletary tells KNBR he thinks Manny Lawson will have a "breakout year" -- which would be huge for Lawson and for the 49ers.

I don't think he's capable of a 10 sack season unless the majority come against the scrape-heap teams.

You do realize he was 3.5 sacks away from 10 last season, right?

Currently Manny views he is worth more than the 49ers. If he has a breakout year, that might be the best for both parties. The 49ers will view him higher and will give him a contract offer that matches his expectations. Let's hope this happens, as finding a 10 sack OLB on your roster is better than spending a first round pick in the draft to get one (you can spend that draft pick somewhere else).
But if it doesn't happen, I can see him thinking that it is the 49er scheme that prevents him from reaching his potential, and looking for another team that is willing to pay him more.
Let's just hope the 49ers can find the money to pay all of these players that will need new contracts. My suspiscion is that if Lawson succeeds, they will keep Lawson and let Franklin walk.
